Nadeshot’s reported defense of an AI-made Roobet promotional video came days after 100 Thieves apologized for AI use in artwork for a RuneScape merchandise collaboration. The timing put the two cases side by side, but published coverage does not establish that 100 Thieves commissioned or approved his separate promotion.
What happened with Nadeshot’s Roobet promotion?
On October 1, 2026, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag posted a promotion for a week of casino streams on Kick. Insider Gaming and Sportskeeda described the accompanying video as AI-generated. The post reportedly said he planned to stream eight to ten hours a day for eight days; that was a stated plan, not confirmation that the streams took place. Insider Gaming and Sportskeeda covered the post, but the original social post was not independently verified in the reporting reviewed here.
Why did the timing draw attention?
On September 30, 100 Thieves apologized for AI use in artwork associated with its RuneScape merchandise collaboration with Jagex, according to contemporaneous reports. Nadeshot’s Roobet post followed the next day, so coverage and social-media responses juxtaposed the two AI-use cases. That sequence does not show that the organization was involved in his promotion or that the two efforts were connected.
The situations also differed in purpose and context: one involved artwork for merchandise sold through an organizational collaboration; the other was a promotional video for Nadeshot’s Roobet streams. Those distinctions explain why the cases were discussed together, but they do not settle the broader debate over acceptable AI use.

What did Nadeshot say about the criticism?
In an October 5 account, Dexerto reported that Nadeshot addressed the criticism on stream. The outlet quoted him as distinguishing the merchandise issue from his own video:
“I don’t support the idea of using AI and copying and pasting a design to directly make money from a business perspective at 100 Thieves,” he said. “Of course, I don’t think that’s how we should operate and how things should be done.”

Dexerto also quoted him saying he understood why someone who bought the merchandise might be upset, but disagreed with “the levels of drama that the internet takes things.” He said he wanted to discuss why people were reacting emotionally and find common ground, while arguing that the internet offered no effective way to have a productive conversation. He also said many people criticizing him did not “live in reality” or have an “independent thought of their own.” These are his reported remarks, not evidence about critics as a group. Dexerto’s account of the stream is the source for these quotations; the complete stream recording was not independently checked.

Coverage described criticism and reproduced selected social-media reactions, but it did not provide representative polling or another measure of how widely people objected. The phrase “incredibly dramatic” is Nadeshot’s characterization of the response, not a measured finding about public opinion. It is therefore more accurate to say that he faced reported criticism than to treat a selection of comments as representative of the wider audience.
