Pokémon GO’s World Space Week 2026 event runs from October 4 through October 10, using local time. Astronaut Pikachu debuts in one-star raids and as a possible encounter from free Timed Research; the research rewards must be claimed by October 12 at 11:59 p.m. local time. The official announcement says a Shiny may be possible, but gives no odds.
When is the Pokémon GO World Space Week 2026 event?
The event begins Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. and ends Saturday, October 10, at 11:59 p.m. in each player’s local time, according to the official Pokémon GO announcement. The notice says upcoming event details are subject to change.
How can you get Astronaut Pikachu?
Astronaut Pikachu is the event’s costumed Pokémon debut. The official notice lists two ways to encounter it:
- One-star raids: Astronaut Pikachu can appear as a raid boss during the event.
- Timed Research: Completing the free event research can lead to an Astronaut Pikachu encounter.
The announcement does not provide encounter odds for either route, so it does not establish that one is more likely than the other. It says a Shiny Astronaut Pikachu may be possible if you are lucky, but does not give a probability.

How long do you have to complete and claim Timed Research?
The free Timed Research is available during the event, but its deadline is later: complete the tasks and claim the rewards by Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time. Leave enough time to claim everything before the cutoff; the announcement says the research includes an Astronaut Pikachu encounter “and more.”
The official notice does not enumerate the individual tasks or rewards. It also does not list event bonuses or wild encounters, so those details cannot be confirmed from the announcement. Check the in-game event information or a later official update for any additional specifics.

How does the ESA collaboration relate to the in-game event?
The Pokémon GO event is part of a broader World Space Week 2026 collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and The Pokémon Company International. ESA describes a wider program that includes an exhibition about space and Pokémon at ESA sites and major museums across Europe, exclusive merchandise, and the special Pokémon GO event. The collaboration release does not establish that every exhibition or merchandise item is available at every location.
ESA also reports that a Pikachu plush traveled aboard the International Space Station during ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot’s mission. According to ESA’s September 19, 2026 collaboration announcement, the plush was in orbit from April 11 to June 17, 2026, completing 67 days in orbit and approximately 1,040 orbits. That report does not say the flight plush is for sale.

What is not confirmed about the event?
The official Pokémon GO announcement does not specify research steps, a full reward list, wild encounters, event bonuses, or Shiny encounter rates. Avoid relying on unconfirmed details; event information may change, and the game or a later official update is the best place to check for additions.
