Construction Partners, Inc. announced on October 5, 2026, that it acquired the asphalt manufacturing and construction assets of J.H. Strain & Sons, Inc. The deal brings two hot-mix asphalt plants, related crews and equipment serving the greater Abilene area into Construction Partners’ Texas platform, Lone Star Paving. The company said more than 125 J.H. Strain employees are joining Lone Star.
What did Construction Partners acquire?
The acquisition covers J.H. Strain’s asphalt manufacturing and construction assets: two hot-mix asphalt plants, along with related crews and equipment. The operations serve the greater Abilene area in West Texas. Construction Partners did not describe the acquisition as a purchase of J.H. Strain’s entire company.
Construction Partners said more than 125 employees are joining Lone Star Paving. The company’s announcement does not provide a separate breakdown of the crews, equipment or plant locations.
Where will the acquired operations go?
The operations will become part of Lone Star Paving, Construction Partners’ Texas platform company. Construction Partners describes itself as a vertically integrated civil-infrastructure company serving Sunbelt markets, with asphalt plants, aggregate facilities and liquid asphalt terminals. Its work includes constructing and maintaining roadways and other surface infrastructure for public and private customers.

How much did Construction Partners pay?
Financial terms were not disclosed in the company’s announcement or the reviewed coverage from Investing.com. No purchase price is established in those sources.
Why did Construction Partners make the acquisition?
CEO Fred J. (Jule) Smith III said the plants, fleet and workforce give Lone Star a local presence to serve public and private infrastructure customers in greater Abilene and West Texas. He cited Abilene’s diversified economy and ongoing investment, including data-center-related developments. Those are management’s stated reasons and observations, not evidence of the acquisition’s future performance.
