Cohere North 2 is an enterprise agentic AI platform update centered on a redesigned orchestration system for multi-step workflows and new administrator controls for monitoring and limiting model usage. Cohere also describes reusable agent skills, shared libraries, persistent memory, generated apps, automations, and workplace connectors. These are vendor-described capabilities; the available announcement does not provide an independent North 2 benchmark or evidence that token limits deliver a particular cost reduction.
What North 2 is—and what changed
Cohere presents North as a ready-to-use enterprise workspace for company knowledge, AI agents, and workflow automation—not as a consumer chatbot. The central North 2 change is a rebuilt orchestration system intended to coordinate more sophisticated, multi-step processes while keeping people involved where appropriate. Cohere says users can create agents and automations for reuse across an organization, prototype documents or applications through chat, and connect the platform to workplace tools. Cohere’s announcement describes the capabilities but does not establish their effectiveness through independent testing.
How North 2’s agent-building features fit together
Cohere describes North 2 as a set of components for building and operating agents and workflows, rather than just a model interface:
- Skills: reusable capabilities that agents can call.
- Libraries: shared organizational knowledge and assets.
- Memory: context intended to persist between sessions.
- Applications: creation of documents, decks, dashboards, and lightweight apps from natural-language prompts.
- Automations: templates and a visual workflow builder, with monitoring and integrations.
- Connectors: links to enterprise data and work systems.
In a separate description of North Automations, Cohere says workflows can be created from natural language, scheduled, and built with loops or branching. It also lists choosing a model for each step, reviewing a plan before building, versioning, approvals, testing, publishing, usage analysis, and input/output token monitoring. Those are product descriptions from Cohere’s Automations announcement; they do not independently demonstrate workflow reliability or return on investment.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What “token spending caps” mean
Cohere describes North Admin as giving administrators visibility into token usage and tools to set limits. The announcement says admins can define consumption tiers based on requests and token rates for users and groups, alongside role and permission settings, model-use controls, activity analytics, and alerts. In practice, these controls are meant to help an organization observe usage and constrain it according to its policies; the announcement does not quantify savings or guarantee a particular reduction in cost. Connectors: available now versus planned
Cohere lists these as current North connectors: Slack, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, Jira, Linear, Notion, and GitHub. It describes connections to financial data providers as planned, not current: PitchBook, Crunchbase, Daloopa, FiscalAI, S&P Global, and FactSet. Deployment options and model choice
Cohere says North can be deployed in a customer VPC, on premises, in a hybrid configuration, or in an air-gapped environment. Its product page also describes private deployment and Cohere’s Model Vault inference option, and characterizes North as model agnostic. These statements do not establish that every feature, model, connector, or security setting is identical across deployment modes. Buyers should verify the specific combination they need with Cohere. Performance claims and what has been demonstrated
Cohere says its models running on NVIDIA Blackwell and Hopper deliver more tokens per second per node, and that North can generate more insights for fewer tokens in that setup. The launch announcement gives no numerical North 2 benchmark for these claims, and no independent comparative test is established here. A partner statement from NVIDIA’s Kari Briski, reproduced by Cohere, also attributes faster inference to Blackwell and Hopper; it is a vendor-published statement rather than an independent test result.
