The India-focused POCO M6 Pro 5G was a capable budget phone in its 2023 review: it paired a large 90Hz display and Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 with strong battery life, but its 18W charging, software clutter, and camera limitations held it back. What the POCO M6 Pro 5G did well
Everyday performance was capable
The 91mobiles review found the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 suitable for routine activities such as browsing, social media, streaming, and messaging. Casual gaming was playable, though demanding games and heavier workloads could reveal the phone’s limits. This is a budget-use profile, not evidence that it is suited to sustained intensive gaming.

The large 90Hz display made routine use feel smoother
The 6.79-inch FHD+ screen and 90Hz refresh rate were among the phone’s useful everyday features. The higher refresh rate can make supported scrolling and interface animations look smoother than on a standard 60Hz panel, though it does not by itself make the processor faster.
Battery endurance was a strength
The reviewer praised the 5,000mAh battery’s endurance. That makes battery life one of the stronger points in the review’s account, but the available review findings do not establish a standardized runtime figure or guarantee the same results for every user.

Daylight photos were a positive
The review described daylight camera output as good. Its praise is qualified: portrait mode had edge-detection problems, and the 8MP selfie camera was considered average. A 50MP specification alone should not be read as proof of consistently strong results across lighting and camera modes.
POCO M6 Pro 5G: the main drawbacks
18W charging was slow by the review’s assessment
The 18W charging rate was a clear drawback in the 91mobiles review. The phone’s battery capacity may help it last longer between charges, but that does not resolve the slower charging trade-off when you need to top up quickly.

Pre-installed apps and notifications affected the software experience
The reviewer flagged third-party pre-installed apps and push notifications as software annoyances. The phone launched with Android 13-based MIUI 14. The same 2023 review said POCO had not officially announced future software updates at that time; that dated observation does not establish the phone’s current operating system or support status.
Portrait and selfie results were less convincing
Portrait edge detection and average selfie performance were specific weaknesses reported in the review. Buyers who often take portraits or rely on the front camera should weigh those findings alongside the more favorable daylight-camera assessment.

It was not clearly distinct from the Redmi 12 5G
The 91mobiles and Smartprix reviews both describe substantial overlap between the POCO M6 Pro 5G and Redmi 12 5G in key specifications. That makes the POCO’s value harder to judge from its spec sheet alone; price, configuration, software experience, camera consistency, charging, and availability matter more to a buying decision.

The review here concerns the India-focused POCO M6 Pro 5G with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and 90Hz display. Search results also include a different global POCO M6 Pro 4G, reported with an AMOLED display and Helio G99-Ultra chipset. Those are not specifications for the 5G handset reviewed here. Check the exact model and network variant before comparing listings or buying model-specific accessories.

Is the POCO M6 Pro 5G worth buying?
As a 2023 budget-phone proposition, it made sense for someone seeking everyday performance, a large 90Hz display, and good battery endurance, and who could accept slower charging and the reported software and camera compromises. The 91mobiles assessment was that it was close to the Redmi 12 5G rather than a uniquely differentiated option; Smartprix also reported substantial specification overlap.
Whether it is worth buying now cannot be established from those 2023 reviews. Prices, stock, software status, and newer competing phones may have changed. A September 30, 2026 Gadgets 360 listing is a secondary snapshot, not verification of a live offer. Before buying, check current local pricing and availability, the exact RAM/storage variant, update information from an official support record, and how the competing Redmi 12 5G or newer alternatives compare on the points that matter to you.
