SiteGround is worth considering if you want managed WordPress tools, email, backups and tier-specific workflow features—but only if the renewal price fits your budget. The advertised first-year rates are promotional, require a 12-month prepayment and exclude VAT. Compare the renewal rates and the plan limits, not just the price shown in an offer.

SiteGround plans and prices in 2026

SiteGround’s official shared-hosting page lists the following U.S.-dollar monthly rates for a prepaid 12-month term. The introductory rates are promotional; the renewal column shows the listed recurring monthly rate after that first term. Prices exclude VAT. Check SiteGround’s official plans and pricing for the current offer and checkout terms.

Plan Introductory rate Listed renewal rate Websites and storage Notable tier features
StartUp $2.99/month $17.99/month 1 website; 10 GB Core hosting and WordPress features
GrowBig $4.99/month $29.99/month Unlimited websites; 50 GB On-demand backups, staging, advertised 30% faster PHP
GoGeek $7.99/month $44.99/month Unlimited websites; 100 GB Git, private DNS, white-label access and priority support

SiteGround lists a free domain, SSL, CDN, backups, email, AI tokens, caching, enhanced security, collaborators, website-builder features, site migration, managed WordPress autoupdates, WP-CLI and SSH on all three plans. GrowBig and GoGeek add on-demand backups and staging; Git, private DNS, white-label access and priority support are listed for GoGeek. Feature availability and offer terms can change, so confirm the plan details at checkout. SiteGround’s plan page

What the promotional price means for your budget

The low advertised rate applies to the first prepaid year, not to each year you keep the account. For example, StartUp’s listed monthly rate equates to $35.88 for the first 12 months and $215.88 for a 12-month renewal at its listed renewal rate, before VAT. Those totals are arithmetic from the monthly rates, not separately quoted plan totals. The same pricing structure means you should calculate the cost for your likely hosting period using the renewal rate for later years, rather than multiplying the introductory offer across your whole term.

Which SiteGround plan fits your site?

StartUp: one smaller website

StartUp is the straightforward choice if you need hosting for one site and can work within its listed 10 GB of storage. It includes the core features SiteGround lists across all three tiers, but not the higher-tier staging and on-demand backup features. Consider how much space your media and other site files need; a one-site limit does not itself determine whether the storage allowance is sufficient.

GrowBig: multiple sites or a staging workflow

GrowBig lists unlimited websites and 50 GB of storage, plus staging and on-demand backups. It is the first tier to consider if you need to host more than one site or want to test changes in a staging environment before publishing. “Unlimited” refers to the listed site count, not unlimited storage; the plan still has a stated 50 GB allowance.

GoGeek: Git and additional listed tools

GoGeek lists 100 GB of storage and includes the staging and on-demand backup features available on GrowBig. It is the only tier in this lineup that lists Git, private DNS, white-label access and priority support. Those features may matter for a development workflow or client sites, but the higher renewal rate is difficult to justify if you will not use them.

How much weight to give performance and support claims

TechRadar reported that its monitoring checked a test site every five minutes for 14 days and recorded no failures, or 100% uptime during that test window. It also reported a 0.207-second average response time and a 0.735-second Largest Contentful Paint result. These are observations from TechRadar’s shared-hosting test site, not a performance promise for every SiteGround account or website. The review says its comparison does not establish how VPS or dedicated hosting would perform. TechRadar’s SiteGround review

TechRadar also reported repeated failures when it tried the WordPress migration plugin with a small WooCommerce site, while a support representative answered a question promptly after the reviewer navigated the support flow. Those outcomes describe that reviewer’s attempts and support interaction; they do not establish that every migration will fail or every support request will receive the same response. TechRadar separately describes a 99.9% network uptime guarantee, but contract terms and refund-policy distinctions should be checked in the current agreement rather than assumed from a review published in November 2025. HostDecider’s 2026 review is desk research: it says it did not buy a plan or run its own speed, uptime, migration, restore or support-response tests. It can provide dated plan context, but it is not an independent hands-on performance test. HostDecider’s 2026 review

What to check before buying

  • Recurring cost: Compare the listed renewal rate with your budget for every year after the prepaid introductory term.
  • Site count: StartUp lists one website; GrowBig and GoGeek list unlimited websites.
  • Storage: The plans list 10 GB, 50 GB and 100 GB respectively. Estimate your site files and media needs instead of treating site count as the only limit.
  • Workflow: Staging and on-demand backups begin with GrowBig; Git and the other GoGeek-only features are relevant only if you will use them.
  • Checkout details: Confirm currency, VAT, billing period, promotional eligibility and the renewal amount for your region on the official plan page.

Verdict: is SiteGround worth it?

SiteGround is a conditional fit for buyers who value its included WordPress workflow, email, backups and plan-level tools enough to pay the recurring rate. StartUp is aimed at a single site within its storage allowance; GrowBig adds multi-site hosting and staging; GoGeek is the tier for buyers who specifically need its Git and other exclusive features. If the ongoing price is the deciding factor—or you do not expect to use the higher-tier tools—compare the likely multi-year cost and alternatives before choosing.
