If Paramount+ tells you to disable your VPN or proxy, turn that service off on the device and try again. Paramount+ recommends setting the device’s network settings to Automatic or restoring their defaults. If you do not use a VPN or proxy, ask your internet service provider (ISP) to verify the IP address it assigns or that Paramount+ may be seeing.
When Paramount+ says to disable your VPN or proxy
Paramount+ says this warning means it detected a VPN, proxy, or other software that may reroute your traffic outside your current region. Its instruction is to disable the service on your device before streaming. The support article does not explain the exact detection method or guarantee that a particular change will resolve every warning.
- Turn off the VPN or proxy on the device. Disable the service you use to reroute traffic, then reopen Paramount+ and try streaming again.
- Set network settings to Automatic or restore defaults. If the warning remains, check the device’s network settings and select Automatic, or restore the default settings. Menu names and paths vary by device; consult the device maker if you cannot find the controls.
- Contact support if the warning continues. Paramount+ advises contacting the device maker or your ISP when these steps do not work.
Paramount+’s official support instruction is: “Please disable these services on your device to stream Paramount+.” See Paramount+’s VPN/proxy warning guidance.
If you do not use a VPN or proxy
Do not assume you enabled one intentionally. If you do not knowingly use a VPN or proxy, Paramount+ recommends asking your ISP to verify your IP address. Explain that Paramount+ is displaying a VPN/proxy warning and ask the ISP to check the address associated with your connection.

If the problem is a playback error instead
A black screen, loading image, frozen app, or error without a VPN/proxy warning may be a separate playback issue. For computer playback, Paramount+ recommends this checklist:
- Update your browser and confirm it is supported.
- Clear browser cache, cookies, and history.
- Reload the page or close and reopen the browser.
- Try a different browser.
- Turn off ad blocking and test playback again.
If playback still fails, check your internet connection, restart your modem and router, then relaunch Paramount+. Paramount+ lists these steps in its general streaming troubleshooting guidance.

VPN warnings, playback faults, and travel availability are different issues
A VPN/proxy warning calls for disabling traffic-rerouting services; it is not the same as a routine playback fault. Whether a particular show is available can also depend on where you are watching. Paramount+ maintains separate guidance for VPN/proxy warnings, streaming errors, and availability while traveling. Check its current travel information for territory-specific availability; do not assume that changing network location will make a title available.
Paramount+’s Streaming Issues index lists its VPN/proxy FAQ as dated September 9, 2025. Its support materials do not provide a territory-by-territory catalog in the guidance cited here.
