Which large-screen phone should you choose?

What counts as a large screen?
Phone makers report display size as a diagonal measurement, but their conventions can differ. Samsung gives the Galaxy S26 Ultra two figures: 6.9 inches across the full rectangular display and 6.7 inches when accounting for rounded corners. Google lists the Pixel 10 Pro XL at 6.8 inches. Those numbers are useful for orientation, but they do not establish which screen feels roomiest in everyday use.

Consider the phone’s overall dimensions and how you hold it, too. A large display may be more comfortable for watching video or reading, while the same device may be harder to operate one-handed. Compare models in person if grip and reach are important to you; the cited specifications do not provide a consistent cross-model measure of one-handed comfort.
Which display features matter beyond size?
Privacy and viewing angle
Samsung says the S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display controls the screen’s viewing angle to limit peripheral vision and can be activated in Settings. That is Samsung’s description of the feature, not an independent assessment of how effectively it protects information in every setting. If you often use your phone around other people, check the feature on the device and decide whether its behavior suits your needs.

Display type and everyday use
Google identifies the Pixel 10 Pro XL screen as Super Actua. TechRadar describes the iPhone 18 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra as OLED flagships and reports matching screen size and refresh rate, but that is secondary coverage rather than an Apple specification. How should you compare cameras, battery, and charging?

For battery life and charging, look for tests that use the same method and clearly state the tested model and conditions. Manufacturer claims and capacity numbers should not be treated as equivalent to a shared independent test.
