8×8 Work is 8×8’s cloud phone and unified communications service, combining business calling with meetings, messaging, and collaboration through desktop, mobile, and web apps. Its current pricing page is quote-led, so there is no single public per-user price that can reliably represent every service, license, location, or contract. Before buying, confirm the exact license and calling terms, then compare the full quote—including usage, fees, numbers, and any hardware—not just the plan line.
What does 8×8 offer?
8×8 is a communications platform, not one interchangeable phone plan. Its package page lists Unified Communications, Contact Center, Engage, Communications APIs, and Microsoft Teams solutions. These address different needs; a small business comparing replacements for its office phone system should start with 8×8 Work rather than assuming contact-center or API products are included.
8×8 Work: phone service and unified communications
8×8 Work is described as a cloud unified communications product that brings business phone service, video meetings, messaging, and collaboration into an integrated application. Users can access it through desktop, mobile, and web apps. The feature list also includes voicemail transcription, internet fax, call recording, browser click-to-dial, analytics, and integrations. Which features a user receives depends on the assigned license; confirm them in the quote and current license matrix. 8×8’s feature list

- Mid-level phone, ideal for professionals and managers with moderate call load

When the other products matter
Contact Center is aimed at customer-service operations that need capabilities such as omnichannel routing and agent or supervisor workspaces. Engage and Communications APIs address other customer-engagement and communications needs, while Microsoft Teams solutions are a separate part of the portfolio. Include these in a comparison only if your business needs their specific functions; their presence on the same platform does not make their features or licenses part of 8×8 Work. 8×8 package listings
How much does 8×8 cost per user?
8×8’s current public package page directs prospective customers to request a quote rather than publishing a complete universal seat-price schedule. The amount for a particular business depends on the service and license selected, its usage and scope, and applicable fees; geography, contract term, and negotiated scope can also affect the offer. Ask for a quote that identifies the exact products, licenses, user count, term, and recurring or one-time charges. 8×8 Pricing & Packages
8×8’s separate Reviews page displays $95, $105, and $133 per user per month for X6, X7, and X8, respectively, while describing those tiers as contact-center offerings. Those figures should not be read as prices for all 8×8 services or as the price a particular buyer will receive. Check the live page and request a quote for the actual service and scope under consideration. 8×8 Reviews

What can increase the total bill?
The plan price is only one part of the cost. 8×8’s bill explainer identifies items to check that can add charges or appear separately:
- Usage charges, including charges for calling outside included terms.
- Taxes and fees.
- Equipment and shipping, which are billed separately.
- Unassigned direct-dial numbers.
- Contact-center overages.
Ask the sales representative to show how these items apply to your deployment and whether charges recur or are one-time. The bill explainer was published October 2 and updated October 5, 2026. Understanding your 8×8 bill
Which features and calling terms should you verify?
Do not assume that a feature or calling allowance applies to every account just because it appears in 8×8’s platform materials. Ask for the exact license matrix and calling terms associated with each user or service in your quote.

Calling destinations and allowances
8×8 says its global calling reaches up to 48 countries, with exclusions and license dependencies. Treat that as a qualified reach claim, not a guarantee that every destination, number type, or call is included. Confirm the countries your staff actually calls, the number types covered, and how calls outside the included zones are charged. 8×8 features and Calling Countries for X-Series Licenses
The X-Series calling support article, updated January 12, 2026, distinguishes business telephony users on X1/X2/X3/X4 from contact-center users on X6/X7/X8. For the latter, it states a pooled fair-use allowance of 4,000 inbound and outbound minutes per user per month; additional minutes are billed at standard rates, and toll-free calls are metered at standard rates. This allowance is specific to the stated contact-center tiers, not a universal 8×8 phone-plan entitlement. 8×8 calling terms
Integrations and workflow
8×8 lists integrations involving Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Zendesk, NetSuite, Zoho, HubSpot, ServiceNow, Freshdesk, and Microsoft Teams. The named integration list does not by itself establish that a particular integration, workflow, or feature is available with every license. If a CRM or collaboration tool is essential, have 8×8 confirm the precise integration and license support for your intended workflow before signing. 8×8 integrations and features

Security and availability claims
8×8 says its feature set includes calls secured with TLS and SRTP. It also publishes a 99.999% uptime SLA claim for the 8×8 Platform for CX, described as covering UCaaS and CCaaS with four levels of redundancy. This is the vendor’s published SLA claim, not an independent measurement of achieved availability. Review the applicable SLA terms to understand which services it covers and what remedies, if any, apply. 8×8 Platform features and SLA information

It may suit a business looking to consolidate calling, meetings, messaging, and collaboration in one cloud application. Whether it can replace your current setup depends on your license, calling destinations and volume, required integrations, and whether users need a physical handset or can work through apps. Make a list of the actual tasks employees perform—such as transferring calls, using voicemail, joining meetings, or calling customers from a CRM—and verify each against the quoted license rather than relying on a broad feature list.

How to evaluate an 8×8 quote
Use the same requirements for every vendor quote so that a lower headline rate does not conceal a narrower license or different usage assumptions.
- Define the service. Specify whether you need 8×8 Work for business communications, Contact Center for customer-service operations, or another product in the portfolio.
- Map users to licenses. Ask which calling, messaging, analytics, recording, receptionist, agent, or supervisor features are included for each user type.
- List calling needs. Provide the countries and number types you call, expected usage, and any toll-free requirements. Confirm included zones, fair-use rules, and rates for calls outside them.
- Validate integrations. Name the required CRM or collaboration platform and describe the workflow. Ask for confirmation that the integration works with the quoted license.
- Select endpoints. Decide which users will rely on desktop, mobile, or web apps and whether any need a physical handset. Verify exact model support before purchase.
- Compare the full bill. Request itemization of the plan, contract term, taxes and regulatory fees, usage, unassigned numbers, contact-center overages if applicable, equipment, and shipping.
Is 8×8 a good fit?
8×8 is worth considering when a business wants cloud calling alongside meetings and messaging, or when its requirements extend into contact-center capabilities and connected business applications. It is less straightforward to assess from a public price list because current packages are quote-led and entitlements depend on product and license. The most useful buying decision is therefore based on a written, itemized quote matched to your calling pattern, users, integrations, and endpoint needs—not on a platform-wide feature claim or a single displayed rate.
