Eight picks stand out across Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu from Friday, October 2, through Sunday, October 4, 2026. This is a curated selection, not a complete release calendar: it mixes new series with returning seasons, anime, animation, and documentary programming. The calendars cited are U.S.-facing, so availability may differ by territory.
Netflix: a thriller, a documentary, and returning anime
Netflix has several weekend arrivals, so these three picks cover distinct moods rather than treating every new-to-service title as a new series.

Below — October 2
Netflix Tudum describes Below as a six-episode thriller. Josh Hartnett plays a fisherman in Newfoundland whose community faces a mysterious sea creature. Its compact episode count and creature-threat premise make it the weekend’s scripted binge pick. Netflix Tudum’s October 2–8 guide features the series.
