Teams use it to run regression suites, fill forms, extract data, move records between portals, capture screenshots and PDFs, review responsive and accessible interfaces, reproduce support bugs, and operate supervised browser agents. The right implementation depends on whether the work is repeatable, whether an API exists, how sensitive the data is, and how much human approval is required.
1. End-to-end and regression testing
Automated browser tests reproduce a user journey and assert the visible result: a customer signs in, adds an item, submits checkout, and sees a confirmation. Playwright describes tests as actions plus assertions; its actions wait for actionability conditions such as visibility and enabled state.

Use a confirmation gate for consequential submissions
Automate preparation, validation, and navigation freely, but pause before an action that creates an order, changes an account, sends a message, approves an invoice, or triggers payment. Show the intended values to a person and require explicit confirmation. Test both valid and invalid input, including required fields, duplicate records, session expiry, and server-side validation.
3. How can I scrape or extract data from a webpage?
Extraction workflows collect a single value, a list, repeated rows, or a complete table. Browser automation is useful when data appears only after JavaScript runs, requires navigation, or is behind an authenticated portal. Build quality and permission checks into the workflow
- Confirm that the site permits the access pattern and that your account is authorized.

4. Can I automate repetitive work across browser-based applications?

Decide what to capture
- Use a viewport screenshot for a fold-specific visual check.
- Use a full-page capture when content continues below the fold.
- Generate a PDF when pagination, paper size, margins, or archival output matters.
- Wait for a selector, a delay, or network idle before capture when content loads asynchronously.

Automate checks at desktop and mobile viewport sizes, then inspect overflow, clipped controls, unreadable text, and broken navigation. Exercise accessible names, heading structure, focus order, keyboard operation, and meaningful error messages.
