Choose Site Kit if you want Google Analytics and Search Console connections; consider MonsterInsights for WordPress-admin reports and paid conversion features; and look at Jetpack Stats for straightforward audience and content reporting. Plausible, Matomo, and Independent Analytics are also candidates, but their details should be checked against your requirements before committing.
This comparison focuses on ecosystem, reporting workflow, measurement needs, privacy claims, and cost. It is a shortlist, not a tested ranking: product features, eligibility, and prices can change.
How to choose WordPress analytics
Start with the questions your reports need to answer. If you rely on Google Analytics or Search Console, a Google-connected tool may fit best. If you mainly want visitor and popular-content summaries inside WordPress, prioritize that workflow. For ecommerce or lead generation, confirm that the plan measures the events and conversions you need—not just visits and page views.
- Data and ecosystem: Decide whether you need Google services or want an alternative.
- Reporting workflow: Check whether the plugin provides useful reports in wp-admin or expects you to use a separate dashboard.
- Measurement depth: Distinguish basic audience and content reports from event, ecommerce, and form-conversion reporting.
- Privacy: Read what data the service collects and where it is processed. A vendor’s privacy or compliance claim is not a legal determination for your particular site.
- Cost and eligibility: Confirm current price, included features, traffic limits, commercial-use rules, and renewal terms before signing up.
Seven WordPress analytics solutions to consider
1. Site Kit by Google
Site Kit by Google connects Google services, including Analytics and Search Console, to a WordPress site. It is the clearest fit here if you already work in Google’s ecosystem and want a WordPress plugin to connect those services. See its WordPress.org listing for plugin details.

#1 Best Overall
Choose it for the Google connection rather than assuming it provides every advanced reporting or conversion workflow you might need. Confirm that your Analytics setup and desired reports are supported before relying on it for business-critical measurement.
2. MonsterInsights
MonsterInsights puts Google Analytics tracking and reports in WordPress. Its pricing page displayed Plus at $99.50 per year and Pro at $199.50 per year on September 30, 2026; these were promotional prices and may change. The Pro description includes ecommerce and form-conversion reporting.
It is worth considering when you want Google Analytics information surfaced in wp-admin or need the higher-tier commerce and form reporting. Check the live pricing page for current offers, renewal pricing, plan eligibility, and exact feature availability.
3. Jetpack Stats
Jetpack Stats reports visitors, referrers, countries, popular posts and pages, and selected interactions. Its FAQ says sites with ads, sales, affiliate links, or other business activity require Commercial Stats; a basic or free option should not be assumed to cover a commercial site.
Rank #3
A popular plan was displayed at $8.33 per month billed yearly on September 30, 2026. Jetpack warns that first-year discounts renew at the full price, so check the current eligibility rules and renewal amount before choosing a plan. This option is most relevant when its audience and content summaries are sufficient for your reporting needs.
4. Plausible Analytics
Plausible’s WordPress plugin integrates with its analytics dashboard, but a subscription is required. Its listing describes cookie-free analytics, event and conversion features, and reporting for WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads.
Rank #4
Consider it if those capabilities match your measurement approach and a subscription is acceptable. Cookie-free analytics is a product characteristic, not a blanket guarantee that your site complies with every privacy law; assess your own configuration, jurisdiction, and obligations.
5. Matomo Analytics
Matomo is an available WordPress analytics plugin and belongs on the shortlist. The product details available for this comparison do not establish enough about its deployment options, privacy controls, or premium tiers to compare those points reliably. Review its current plugin and product documentation for the specific features you require.

Independent Analytics is another available WordPress analytics plugin. Its listing establishes it as a candidate, but does not provide a sufficient basis here for detailed claims about deployment, privacy controls, or paid-tier differences. Check the current listing and product information before comparing it with services whose plans and features are described above.
7. Compare the shortlist, then verify details
A recent 2026 comparison from StressFreeHost also includes Site Kit, MonsterInsights, Plausible, Jetpack Stats, Independent Analytics, and Matomo. That market cross-check supports the relevance of these names, not a definitive ranking or current price claim. The seventh option in this article is therefore a decision-oriented comparison of these candidates rather than an unsupported claim that one additional product outranks them.

What to verify before installing or paying
- Write down the decisions your analytics must support: content planning, traffic acquisition, ecommerce sales, lead forms, or another goal.
- Check whether the product uses the Google data and services you already depend on, or offers an alternative that meets your needs.
- Confirm where reports are viewed and whether the relevant features are included in the free plugin, a paid plan, or a required subscription.
- Review commercial-site eligibility, traffic or usage limits, current price, renewal terms, and cancellation conditions on the provider’s current pages.
- Check current WordPress compatibility and configure any required consent and privacy notices for your site and audience.
