For a monitor with DisplayPort, the right choice depends on more than the connector: match the monitor’s exact input to your computer’s output, then choose the resolution, refresh rate, panel, and features that suit your work or games. The five models below are a practical shortlist drawn from current review coverage—not a single independently tested DisplayPort ranking. Confirm the exact regional model and its port specifications before buying.
Five DisplayPort monitor options to shortlist
These models cover different budgets and priorities. Published reviews describe their display characteristics, but the available evidence does not establish a verified DisplayPort version and configuration for every exact model. Treat that as a specification to confirm with the manufacturer for the specific SKU you plan to buy.
| Monitor | Reported display specifications | Why consider it | Trade-off or verification needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| MSI MPG 322UR QD-OLED X24 | 32-inch 4K, 240Hz | TechRadar names it its best overall monitor in a 2026 roundup; the review reports DisplayPort 2.1 and USB-C with 98W power delivery. | OLED brightness and price are cited caveats. Confirm the exact regional SKU and its inputs. TechRadar’s 2026 monitor roundup. |
| ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCG | 27-inch IPS; 4K at 160Hz, with a dual-mode 1080p/320Hz option | PC Gamer calls it the best budget 4K gaming monitor in its 2026 roundup. | The review notes limited USB connectivity and a softer-looking desktop in 1080p mode. The cited coverage does not verify its DisplayPort input/version; check the manufacturer’s specification for your region before treating it as a DisplayPort pick. PC Gamer’s 2026 gaming-monitor roundup. |
| AOC Q27G3XMN | 27-inch 1440p VA, 180Hz | RTINGS highlights Mini LED/local dimming as a strength in its budget recommendation. | RTINGS notes lower brightness than the compared MSI and smearing in dark scenes. Confirm the exact DisplayPort configuration and local availability. RTINGS’ 2026 monitor recommendations. |
| Dell Alienware AW2725DM | 27-inch 1440p IPS, 180Hz | RTINGS identifies it as a cheap pick and describes it as a more affordable, versatile option. | RTINGS says its HDR/local-dimming performance is weaker than the AOC. Verify the exact model’s DisplayPort input and capabilities. RTINGS’ 2026 monitor recommendations. |
| Dell Alienware AW2725Q | Not stated in the cited recommendation material | RTINGS includes it among notable mentions, making it a candidate to investigate if its other specifications match your needs. | The cited material does not establish enough details here to compare its display performance or DisplayPort configuration. Do not confuse it with the Dell S3225QC, which RTINGS says lacks a DisplayPort input. RTINGS’ 2026 monitor recommendations. |
These are starting points, not a universal ranking: the reviews use different selection criteria, and the evidence does not provide a uniform set of prices or verified port specifications for all five models. A monitor’s name alone is not enough to confirm connectivity; check the product page and manual for the exact SKU.

Match both ends of the connection
The usable signal depends on the monitor input, the cable or adapter, and the graphics card or laptop output. The least capable part of that chain limits what you can use, and a port labeled with a DisplayPort version does not necessarily deliver that version’s maximum bandwidth. Verify the supported resolution and refresh rate for the exact monitor input and computer output together. RTINGS explains the bandwidth and implementation caveats in its HDMI versus DisplayPort comparison.

Choose resolution and refresh rate for your workload
Higher resolution gives you more image detail and workspace, while higher refresh rates can make motion look smoother. LG’s buying guide describes 60Hz as common for everyday productivity and suggests considering 120Hz or above for smoother gaming or video; your computer must also be able to drive the target setting. Consider screen size, panel type, response behavior, HDR, and stand adjustments alongside the headline resolution and refresh rate. LG’s monitor buying guide.
Check adaptive sync and gaming compatibility
DisplayPort can be relevant to variable refresh rate (VRR), but it is not a universal requirement. RTINGS reports that VRR works over both HDMI and DisplayPort on many current monitors and graphics cards, while NVIDIA G-SYNC support over HDMI varies by monitor. Confirm compatibility for the specific monitor and graphics hardware rather than assuming that one connector guarantees a feature.

Account for USB-C and laptop docking needs
Some laptops can send video over USB-C using DisplayPort Alt Mode. A compatible monitor’s USB-C connection may also provide laptop power and access to a USB hub, potentially reducing the number of cables on a desk. Video, charging wattage, and hub features depend on both devices, so check each one’s specifications. RTINGS explains USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and its possible one-cable benefits in its connection comparison.

Consider daisy-chaining only when the monitor supports it
DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-Stream Transport (MST) can support daisy-chaining, but the monitor needs DisplayPort output or an appropriate hub, and the combined displays must fit within the available bandwidth. A DisplayPort input by itself does not mean the monitor can pass a signal on to another screen. Check the manual for MST support and the available output ports before planning a multi-monitor chain.

- Quality Visuals: The KG271U 27" IPS monitor with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
- AMD FreeSync Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provide the smoothest gaming experience.
- Up to 180Hz: The 180Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver an ultra-smooth 2D motion scene. With a rapid refresh rate of up to 180Hz, Acer Gaming Monitors shorten the time it takes for frame rendering, lower input lag and provide gamers an excellent in-game experience.
- Responsive!!: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be all rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting with KG271U Gaming Monitor.
- New Depths of Color Accuracy: is monitor is ideal for color-critical projects producing accurate colors, supporting DCI-P3 95%. An amazing monitor for graphic designers, photographers, and film editors.
Verify the port before you order
- Find the full model number and region. Similar model names can refer to different products or regional configurations. Use the manufacturer’s product page and manual for the exact SKU.
- Confirm the physical input. Look for an explicitly listed DisplayPort input, not just a reference to DisplayPort in a feature list. RTINGS notes that the Dell S3225QC lacks a DisplayPort input, illustrating why a general monitor recommendation is not enough to confirm this requirement.
- Check the supported signal on that input. Verify the DisplayPort version and the maximum resolution/refresh combination supported by the monitor’s input. Do the same for the computer’s output and any adapter or dock in between.
- Confirm the features you need. Check VRR or G-SYNC compatibility, USB-C video and power delivery, USB hub functions, and MST output separately; none follows automatically from the presence of DisplayPort.
- Check whether you need a separate cable. Buy one only if a suitable cable is not included or the included cable does not support the signal you intend to use.
VESA says products in its DisplayPort Product Database that carry the DisplayPort logo have been tested and approved by VESA. That database can help verify logo-certified products, but it does not replace checking the exact model’s inputs and supported modes. VESA’s DisplayPort Product Database.
