These five all-in-one color laser printers are a comparison shortlist, not a hands-on ranking. Consumer Reports’ 2026 Buying Guide lists their overall scores and prices, while the strongest detailed specification evidence here is for the Brother MFC-L3780CDW. Treat guide prices as dated reference points, and verify the exact model, features, availability, and live price in your region before buying.
How to read this shortlist
The Consumer Reports 2026 Buying Guide provides a comparative snapshot, not proof that a model is right for every household. Its scores below are the guide’s overall scores, not test results from this article. The listed prices are historical guide figures—not verified October 2026 offers. Consumer Reports’ 2026 Buying Guide also includes other color laser all-in-ones, so these five are a useful candidate set rather than the only available choices.
There is not enough comparable, model-by-model specification detail here to claim a universal winner or to rank all five by speed, scanning, running costs, or home suitability. The Brother MFC-L3780CDW is the most fully documented option in this shortlist; for the other models, check the current manufacturer listing for the specific features you need.

What the Brother MFC-L3780CDW’s specifications tell you
Brother describes the MFC-L3780CDW as a wireless digital color all-in-one for printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. Its detailed specifications make it the easiest model in this shortlist to assess against paperwork-heavy home-office needs.
- Rated print speed: up to 31 pages per minute, a manufacturer-rated maximum rather than an independent test result.
- Rated scan speed: up to 29 images per minute in black and 22 images per minute in color, according to Brother.
- Two-sided document handling: Brother specifies single-pass duplex copy and scan. That is distinct from automatic duplex printing; a printer’s duplex-print feature alone does not establish that it can scan both sides of an original automatically.
- Connections: dual-band wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB are listed by the manufacturer.
- Fax: included among the device’s stated functions; useful only if your household still needs fax capability.
These details come from Brother’s MFC-L3780CDW specifications. “Up to” speeds are manufacturer ratings, not a guarantee of the rate you will see with every document, setting, or connection.

Starter toner and other included consumables
Brother lists a starter black toner cartridge rated at 2,300 pages and starter cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges rated at 1,200 pages each in the MFC-L3780CDW carton. The same carton contents list a DR229CL drum unit, WT229CL waste toner box, and BU229CL belt unit. These are manufacturer-stated starter yields and included components; starter yields do not promise typical household results or establish the price and yield of replacement supplies. Check compatibility and replacement costs for the exact model before buying.
How to choose for your household
For occasional printing
If you mostly print a page now and then, start with purchase price and the functions you will actually use. A higher guide score does not automatically mean a better fit, and guide-listed prices are not live quotes. Check current stock and the cost of compatible toner and any separate imaging components before comparing total ownership cost.
Rank #3
- Color, Wireless, Duplex 4-in-1: Print, scan, copy, fax.
- Fast Print Speeds: Print up to 26 ppm in both color and monochrome and spend less time waiting with a quick first print time of approximately 10.3 seconds.
- Easy Wireless Setup: Setup your wireless connection and get up and running in just a few steps.
- 5-inch Color Touchscreen: Get the job done quickly with Application Library - an intuitive and easy to use customizable access to the features you use most.

For paperwork, schoolwork, or a home office
Look beyond the presence of a document feeder. Check its capacity and whether two-sided scanning is automatic and single-pass or requires turning or re-feeding originals. Also verify duplex copying, paper capacity, fax, and the connections you need. An automatic duplex-print feature does not prove automatic duplex scanning; Tom’s Guide’s 2026 all-in-one guide likewise cautions readers to distinguish the two.
For photos and graphics
These candidates are color laser multifunction printers, but the cited evidence does not provide standardized comparative photo-quality tests for all five. Do not assume color laser is the best option for photo printing: the reviewed editorial comparison describes laser printers as suited to higher-volume text and inkjets as generally better for image needs. See Digital Camera World’s 2026 home-office printer guide for that broader distinction.
Rank #4
- Color, Wireless, Duplex 4-in-1: Print, scan, copy, fax.
Check before ordering
- Confirm the complete model name and suffix, including the regional version; names and feature sets can differ by market.
- Verify that the exact device has the functions you need: print, copy, scan, fax, and any required network connection.
- For two-sided paperwork, confirm the scanning method and not just automatic duplex printing or the presence of an ADF.
- Compare toner and other consumable costs, including drums, belts, or waste-toner components where applicable. Do not treat starter-cartridge yields as typical ongoing yields.
- Check current availability and the price for your region rather than relying on guide-listed prices.
Model naming can be especially easy to confuse across regions and generations. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 guide discusses the Canon imageCLASS MF753Cdw II, while the Consumer Reports guide lists the MF753Cdw. Do not assume those names identify an identical revision or transfer specifications between them without checking the exact product. Regional Canon model names also vary: Digital Camera World identifies the i-SENSYS MF655Cdw and imageCLASS MF653Cdw as market-specific variants, so their specifications should not be treated as specifications for one of the five U.S.-named picks above.
