What should an under-construction page include?
Give visitors the information they need without promising more than you can deliver. Colorlib recommends a concise explanation, an estimated launch or return date when known, a way to reach the business, and ideally a signup for updates.
- Status: Say whether the site is being built, launching soon, or temporarily unavailable.
- Date: Include an estimated date only if it is credible and keep it updated. A countdown that reaches zero before launch undermines trust.
- Contact: Provide a reliable email address, phone number, or other route visitors can actually use.
- Signup: Use a form only if submissions reach a functioning list or other collection and someone will send the promised updates. A styled form alone does not collect or deliver email.
- Progress details: If you use a progress bar or phase checklist, keep it aligned with actual work.
Coming-soon page or maintenance page?
A coming-soon page is for a site or product that has not launched. A maintenance page temporarily replaces an already-live site while work or an outage is in progress. The distinction matters: a launch page can invite people to join a waitlist, while a maintenance notice should explain the interruption and offer a useful contact route. Do not present an indefinite outage as a launch announcement.

How the Colorlib downloads are described
Colorlib describes its templates as plain HTML and CSS, with limited vanilla JavaScript where a countdown, slideshow, or form needs it. Its roundup says they can be used independently or inside Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects. Treat those as descriptions of the downloads, not proof that every template will work unchanged in your site: inspect the files and any dependencies before integrating one.
License information is specific to individual pages and should not be generalized across the collection. The individual pages for V03, V05, V07, V10, and V14 list CC BY 3.0 and describe September 2026 updates to plain HTML/CSS with limited vanilla JavaScript and no jQuery, Bootstrap files, or plugins. Those statements support claims about those named downloads only. They do not establish the terms for every option in the roundup or for third-party images and other assets.

Colorlib’s FAQ recommends serving maintenance pages with HTTP 503 and a Retry-After header. That is the roundup’s recommendation; the sources cited here do not independently establish the correct status-code behavior for every deployment. Confirm the behavior with authoritative technical guidance for your server or hosting platform before configuring it.
