The fix depends on which Outlook app is installed. The Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office is a COM add-in for classic Outlook for Windows. It does not appear in new Outlook for Windows, because new Outlook does not support COM add-ins.
In new Outlook, create an event and use the Teams meeting toggle in the event window. If you are using classic Outlook, work through the four fixes below in order.
First, check whether you are using classic or new Outlook
Open Outlook and compare the interface. New Outlook has a modern web-based layout and commonly includes a toggle for making an event a Teams meeting. Classic Outlook has the traditional desktop ribbon and includes paths such as File > Options > Add-ins.
Do not try to register Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll if you are using new Outlook. Registering that file cannot add a COM add-in to the new app.

Use the Teams meeting option in new Outlook
- Close Outlook.
- Right-click the Teams icon in the Windows notification area and select Quit Teams.
- Start Teams and sign in.
- Start Outlook.
Teams and Outlook must be signed in with the same work or school account. The new Teams desktop client must also be installed. If you need the COM add-in specifically, switch to classic Outlook for Windows.
1. Re-enable the disabled Teams COM add-in
Classic Outlook can disable an add-in automatically when it detects that the add-in is slowing Outlook down or causing stability problems. The Teams add-in may then be listed as disabled even though Teams itself is working normally.
- In classic Outlook, select File > Options.
- Select Add-ins.
- Look for Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
- If it is listed under Disabled Application Add-ins, go to the bottom of the window.
- Next to Manage, select COM Add-ins, then select Go….
- Select the checkbox for Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
- Select OK in each open dialog.
- Close and restart Outlook.
After the restart, return to File > Options > Add-ins. The add-in should now be listed under Active Application Add-ins.

If Outlook shows an add-in performance warning, open File > Slow and Disabled COM Add-ins. Depending on the warning window, select Always enable this add-in.
2. Run Microsoft’s classic Outlook add-in troubleshooter
If the add-in is not listed in the COM Add-ins dialog at all, use Microsoft’s automated troubleshooter rather than manually changing registry entries first. It runs through the Windows Get Help application.
The tool requires:
- Windows 10 or later.
- Classic Outlook installed on the same Windows computer.
- The Teams desktop client installed on the computer.
It does not troubleshoot the COM add-in in new Outlook.

- Open Microsoft’s Teams Meeting Add-in troubleshooter.
- Under the automated troubleshooting section, select Start.
- If Windows displays This site is trying to open Get Help, select Open.
- Follow the instructions shown in the Get Help window.
Microsoft’s troubleshooter is intended to install or repair the classic Teams meeting add-in for classic Outlook. Restart Outlook after it completes and check the calendar ribbon again.
3. Reinstall only the Teams Meeting Add-in
This is particularly useful after classic Teams has been replaced by new Teams. A Teams upgrade can leave the desktop client installed while the separate Outlook add-in is missing or incompletely installed.
Typical symptoms include:
- The Teams Meeting button is missing from the classic Outlook calendar.
- Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office does not appear under Outlook’s add-ins.
- The add-in is absent from the COM Add-ins dialog.
Use this sequence:
- Quit Teams.
- Close Outlook.
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Teams Meeting Add-in.
- Select the three dots next to Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
- Select Uninstall.
- Check the Windows notification area. Right-click the Teams icon and select Quit so Teams is completely closed.
- Start new Teams again and sign in.
- Wait for Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office to reappear under Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Outlook.
Restarting new Teams after the add-in is removed should force Teams to install the add-in again. Reinstalling the entire Teams client is not the first targeted fix for this particular failure.
If the normal uninstall fails
Microsoft provides different cleanup scripts for current and older add-in packages. This procedure is intended for non-VDI environments.
- Close Outlook and quit Teams.
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Teams Meeting Add-in.
- If no add-in is listed, or the installed version starts with
1.23, download and run Microsoft’sUninstallOldTMA.ps1script from an elevated PowerShell window. - If the installed version does not start with
1.23, download and run Microsoft’sUninstallTMA.ps1script from an elevated PowerShell window. - Start new Teams.
- Wait for the add-in to return to Installed apps.
- Restart Outlook.
Only run scripts obtained from Microsoft’s links, and follow your organization’s policy for administrator PowerShell usage.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors4. Re-register the Teams add-in loader
Use this fix when the Teams Meeting Add-in is installed but classic Outlook still does not load it. The Teams desktop client must be installed; using Teams only in a browser is not sufficient.

Find the installed add-in folder
- Close Outlook.
- Quit Teams from the Windows notification area.
- Open File Explorer.
- Enter this path in the address bar:
%LocalAppData%MicrosoftTeamsMeetingAddin
- Open the version-numbered folder.
- If several folders have the same version, use the one with the highest build number.
- Copy the complete path. A path may look like this:
%LocalAppData%MicrosoftTeamsMeetingAddin1.0.23334.11
Register it for 64-bit Office
Open Command Prompt as administrator and run the following command. Replace the placeholder with the actual version-folder path:
%SystemRoot%System32regsvr32.exe /n /i:user "<path copied above>x64Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll"
Register it for 32-bit Office
If your Office installation is 32-bit, run:
%SystemRoot%SysWOW64regsvr32.exe /n /i:user "<path copied above>x86Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll"
The System32 and SysWOW64 paths can look counterintuitive: use the first command for 64-bit Office and the second for 32-bit Office.

If the add-in appears under Active Application Add-ins and is checked in COM Add-ins, but the Outlook ribbon still has no Teams button, the problem may not be a local Outlook setting. A Teams service or client-version issue can produce this exact combination of symptoms.
Check whether Teams has recently updated, and try scheduling from new Outlook, the Teams desktop client, or Teams on the web while the issue is investigated. Microsoft has reported incidents affecting particular Teams builds, including version 26149.1205.4798.6437.

Teams is being used only in a browser
The web version of Teams cannot install the classic Outlook COM add-in. Install and sign in to the Teams desktop client on the same PC as classic Outlook.
The button is missing only from a delegated calendar
If you can create Teams meetings in your own calendar but not in another person’s delegated calendar, the delegator’s mailbox may be hidden from the Global Address List. Microsoft documents this Exchange Online PowerShell command for making the mailbox visible:

FAQ
Why does the Teams Meeting Add-in not appear in new Outlook?
New Outlook for Windows does not support COM add-ins. The missing add-in is expected. Create an event and turn on the built-in Teams meeting toggle instead.
Why is the Teams add-in missing after Teams updated?
The add-in may not have been reinstalled correctly during the Teams transition. In Installed apps, uninstall Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office, quit Teams completely, start new Teams, and wait for the add-in to return.
Can Teams on the web install the Outlook meeting add-in?
No. The classic Outlook add-in depends on the Teams desktop client installed on the same Windows computer.

One-click scans. No signup required.
What should LoadBehavior be for the Teams Outlook add-in?
The LoadBehavior value at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftOfficeOutlookAddinsTeamsAddin.FastConnect should normally be 3. Back up the registry before changing it.
Why is the Teams button missing only when I schedule for someone else?
The delegator’s mailbox may be hidden from the Global Address List. An Exchange administrator can check the mailbox visibility setting and use Set-Mailbox to make it visible if appropriate.
The Bottom Line
First identify the Outlook version: new Outlook uses a built-in Teams meeting toggle, while classic Outlook uses the COM add-in. In classic Outlook, re-enable the add-in, run Microsoft’s troubleshooter, or reinstall the separate Teams Meeting Add-in after an upgrade. Re-register the loader DLL only when the add-in is installed but will not load, and involve your administrator for registry policies, delegated calendars, or Exchange changes.
