There is no universal list of four Pixel apps every owner should delete. What is safe to remove depends on which apps you use and which controls your phone offers. Instead of deleting apps by name, review four kinds of apps you may not need, then use Uninstall, Disable, or Archive as appropriate.
Four kinds of Pixel apps to review
These are prompts for an individual app audit, not a claim that every Pixel includes the same apps or that all owners should remove them. Check what each app does and which action Android offers before making a change.
1. Apps you installed but no longer use
Start with apps you recognize and installed yourself. If you no longer need an app and its page offers Uninstall, removing it is the clearest way to take it off the phone. Google says uninstalling removes an app and its associated data when possible; data handling can vary by app.

A preinstalled app is not automatically unnecessary. For example, Google describes Files by Google as a storage-management tool, Digital Wellbeing as a screen-time tool, and Find Hub as a lost-device tool. If you use one of those functions, keep the relevant app. If you do not, inspect its app information to see whether Android permits disabling or uninstalling it.

- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
3. Apps you only need occasionally
If an app offers Archive, that can be a middle ground. Google says archiving removes the app while retaining its icon and personal data; you must download it again before you can use it. The option is available only for some apps.
4. Apps you cannot identify or whose role is unclear
Do not remove or disable an app just because its name includes “Google,” “Android,” or “Pixel.” Some system apps support security, updates, sign-in, syncing, privacy, or core phone functions. If you cannot establish what an app does, leave it alone rather than using advanced removal methods.

Uninstall, disable, or archive?
| Action | What it does | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Uninstall | Removes the app and its associated data when possible. | For an app you do not need, when Uninstall is available. |
| Disable | Prevents an app from running or updating while leaving it on the phone. | For a preinstalled system app you do not use, when Disable is offered and you understand its role. |
| Archive | Removes the app but retains its icon and personal data; the app must be downloaded again to work. | For an app you want to keep available for later, when Archive is offered. |
Google Pixel Help says some preinstalled system apps cannot be deleted, although most can be disabled. The controls available to you depend on the app and device build.

How to remove or disable an app on a Pixel
Uninstall an app through Google Play
- Open Google Play and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Manage apps and devices, then Manage.
- Select the app and tap Uninstall.
Google says deleted or disabled apps can be added back. See Google’s Android app deletion and archive guidance.
Disable a preinstalled app in Settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then All apps.
- Select the app and tap Disable, if that option is available.
Google’s Pixel Help instructions cover this path and explain that some system apps cannot be deleted.
Archive an app when the option appears

What to check before changing a system app
- Identify the app’s purpose and whether you rely on its features.
- Use the control Android provides for that app rather than trying to force-remove a system component.
- If you are unsure, keep the app. Disable or Archive can be less final choices when offered.
Google’s Android guidance on removing apps, published February 16, 2026, notes that preinstalled apps may support important device functions.
Will deleting apps make a Pixel faster or improve battery life?
There is no basis here for promising a particular speed, battery-life, privacy, or storage improvement from deleting a fixed set of four apps. The practical reason to remove an app is that you do not need it and Android offers a suitable removal option—not that its name alone proves it is harmful or wasteful.
