A SaaS dashboard template gives you interface components and screens; a full-stack SaaS boilerplate can also provide foundations such as authentication, billing, and database integration. They are different starting points, and neither label guarantees that a project already includes everything your product needs.

Colorlib’s July 31, 2026 roundup names 26 options across both categories. Its awards are the publisher’s editorial picks, not independently verified rankings or hands-on test results. Use the list as a shortlist, then confirm features, versions, license terms, price, and support with each vendor or project.

What is included in the 26-item list?

Colorlib’s roundup divides its selection between SaaS UI templates and full-stack SaaS boilerplates. The first group is primarily about the interface; the second aims to provide more of the application foundation. The roundup names the following products:

  • Dashboard UI templates and admin interfaces: Apex Dashboard, Admindek Dashboard Next.js, Flux Dashboard, Zenith Dashboard, Haze Dashboard — Next.js Edition, Signal Dashboard, TailAdmin Pro, Metronic, Vuexy, Shadcn Admin, Material Dashboard PRO React, Vault Dashboard, Fasto SaaS Admin Template, TailPanel, SaaSBoard (MekuHQ), Tabler, AdminLTE, CoreUI React, Mosaic Lite (Cruip), and Materio MUI Dashboard (Free).
  • Full-stack SaaS boilerplates and starters: Supastarter, SaaSBold, SaaS Boilerplate by ixartz, Next.js SaaS Starter (Vercel Official), BoxyHQ SaaS Starter Kit, and CMSaasStarter.

That categorization reflects the roundup’s framing, not a guarantee that every listed product has the same scope or is current in every framework version. The publisher’s editorial picks were Apex Dashboard for best overall SaaS UI, Supastarter for best full-stack multi-tenant boilerplate, Next.js SaaS Starter for best free boilerplate, TailAdmin Pro for best-value premium UI kit, Shadcn Admin for best free SaaS-ready UI, and Metronic for the broadest framework options. Treat those as Colorlib’s picks rather than verified winners. See the Colorlib roundup.

How to choose between a UI template and a boilerplate

Choose a UI template when the main gap is the interface

A UI kit can help you build dashboard screens and reusable components. It may still leave you to implement essential product behavior and connect the screens to your own data. A polished admin interface does not by itself provide authentication, subscriptions, tenant isolation, or user-management workflows.

Choose a full-stack starter when you need application foundations

A boilerplate may include infrastructure that a UI kit does not, such as authentication, billing integration, or a database connection. “Full-stack” is not a uniform feature promise: inspect the current documentation to see exactly what is implemented, what is only scaffolded, and what you must configure or build.

Colorlib cautions that “Building a SaaS product requires more than a generic admin template.” Its comparison says it considered SaaS readiness, but that assessment is editorial; it is not a substitute for checking the code or documentation of a specific product. Read the comparison and its criteria.

Compare the capabilities your product actually needs

Before choosing from the list, write down which functions need to work on launch. Check each product’s current documentation and demo against that list rather than inferring features from its name or screenshots.

  • Authentication: Does it include sign-in and account flows, or only screens that you must connect to an authentication service?
  • Billing: Is there a working payment-provider integration, subscription management, and a way to handle billing states, or merely a billing UI?
  • Users and permissions: Are user management and roles implemented, or do you need to build them?
  • Multi-tenancy: Does the architecture isolate customers’ data and support tenant-specific behavior? Do not assume a multi-tenant label covers every isolation or authorization requirement your product needs.
  • Data and deployment: Identify the database, integration points, setup work, and deployment assumptions, then assess whether they fit your application.

Match the framework and UI stack to your team

Check the current framework, component library, styling approach, and supported versions before adopting a template. The 26-item list spans different products and stacks, but its inclusion of a product does not establish that its latest release matches your application’s dependencies or remains maintained.

Inspect the live demo and, where available, the source repository. Estimate the effort to adapt the design, connect real product data, and keep dependencies current. A familiar stack that your team can maintain may be a better fit than a more feature-rich starter built around tools you do not use.

Use the official Next.js SaaS Starter as a free-code baseline

The official Next.js SaaS Starter repository describes a code starter using Next.js, Postgres, Stripe, and shadcn/ui. It includes authentication, Stripe integration, and a dashboard for logged-in users. It can serve as a comparison point if your team is comfortable building and maintaining the application code; it is a repository, not a finished hosted SaaS product. Check licensing, price, and support before committing

Read the license for your exact use case

Confirm that the terms allow use in a paid SaaS and, if relevant, client projects. Check restrictions on redistribution, number of seats, and whether the license covers an individual developer, a team, or an organization. Terms from one vendor do not apply to another.

For example, Shadcn Dashboard says its free assets can be used in commercial projects and paid client work. That is a vendor-specific statement, not a general rule for free dashboard templates. Check Shadcn Dashboard’s license terms.

Verify the current price and what it covers

Shadcn Dashboard’s pricing page advertised its Ultimate Kit at $129 one-time when accessed in 2026. Prices and terms can change; confirm the current amount, license scope, and included support or updates on the vendor’s page before buying. Check Shadcn Dashboard’s current pricing.

For other products, compare the total cost and support terms directly with their sellers. Check whether updates or support are included, whether renewals or additional seats cost extra, and what happens when the purchased version no longer fits your dependencies.

A practical shortlist process

  1. Define the gap. Decide whether you need interface components, application infrastructure, or both.
  2. List must-have capabilities. Mark authentication, billing, user management, tenant support, database integration, and deployment needs as implemented, partial, or absent for each candidate.
  3. Confirm stack compatibility. Check the current framework and dependencies against your application and your team’s maintenance skills.
  4. Inspect the demo or repository. Look for the screens and code you will actually adapt, and estimate integration and customization work.
  5. Review commercial terms. Verify the license for your business model and team, then confirm current price, updates, and support.
  6. Choose on total implementation effort. Compare what you receive with the work still required; do not treat a UI kit as production-ready SaaS functionality.
