A Genesis child theme controls a WordPress site’s design and layout, but it is not a standalone theme: it needs the Genesis Framework to run. StudioPress’s catalog lists both StudioPress-made and third-party designs, including the examples below. Treat the 25 names as a shortlist to investigate, not a guarantee that every theme is maintained, supported, compatible, or currently available.
How Genesis themes work
Genesis is the underlying framework; a child theme supplies the site’s visual design and layout. StudioPress explains that the framework must be installed for a Genesis child theme to run. Before choosing a design, make sure you are accounting for both parts of that relationship. StudioPress’s getting-started guide and FAQ explain the framework and child-theme dependency.
For developers, Genesis provides much of a site’s structure, while child themes can change output through hooks and filters. The Genesis developer documentation also advises child themes to supply their own CSS rather than inherit Genesis styles. That makes a child theme more than a color preset: it can shape layout and behavior as well as appearance.

Browse the StudioPress theme catalog for the current names, product pages, and demos. Because catalog contents can change, confirm that a candidate is listed and available before making a decision.
How to choose the right candidate
Start with the demo’s visual fit
Compare the demo with the layout and brand you want: for example, the balance of text and imagery, page structure, and overall presentation. StudioPress recommends choosing the closest visual match because it can reduce the amount of customization needed. A polished demo is not proof that the theme will suit your content or workflow, so inspect the pages and features you actually need. StudioPress’s guide to getting started discusses this selection approach.
Match the theme to the site’s purpose
Look at the current product page and demo to determine whether the design appears suited to your site type and content format. The catalog names alone do not establish what a theme is best for. Check the available layouts and features against your own requirements rather than inferring a use case from a theme’s name.
Check maintenance, compatibility, and support
Before installing or purchasing, verify the specific theme’s current update record, the WordPress and Genesis versions it requires, and whether its publisher provides support. The general catalog and framework pages do not establish these details for each individual theme. If the publisher does not clearly state them, contact the publisher before relying on the theme for a live site.

Compare the total access route and terms
StudioPress describes the Genesis Framework as open source and presents Genesis Pro as including StudioPress themes and block-based site tools. It also describes theme access through premium hosting routes involving WP Engine or Flywheel. These routes may have different eligibility and terms; confirm current details and pricing on the relevant vendor pages. A bundle or hosting route is not automatically a better fit if you only need one theme. StudioPress’s Genesis product page describes the framework and these access options.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Accessibility and developer checks
Genesis developer documentation lists default theme supports and recommends adding HTML5 and Genesis accessibility support. This is developer guidance, not evidence that every commercial child theme currently follows those recommendations or has passed an accessibility audit. If accessibility is important to your site, review the candidate’s own documentation and test the actual pages and interactions you plan to use. Genesis developer documentation provides the technical background.
