To stream prerecorded cooking videos on YouTube around the clock without keeping your personal computer on, use a cloud playout service or a dedicated encoder that supports prerecorded playback. YouTube lists cloud options such as Gyre and Upstream, and identifies the AJA HELO Plus as a standalone encoder with a feature for scheduling prerecorded media. You still need to set up a YouTube Live stream, connect the encoder, and plan for interruptions and replay storage.
Choose Where Your Stream Runs
A YouTube playlist is not itself a live broadcast. An encoder must send audio and video to YouTube Live. The best option depends on whether you want a provider to handle playout remotely or prefer to operate your own hardware.

YouTube’s directory confirms that these are listed options, not that a provider or device has been independently tested for uptime, support, price, or suitability for your channel. Before choosing, verify that it supports your files, intended schedule and looping, output quality, account requirements, and recovery and archive needs.
Set Up a Prerecorded Cooking Stream
- Decide what you are streaming. This workflow is for a prerecorded video library. A live kitchen-camera feed has additional camera and capture requirements that this guide does not cover.
- Check live access. Confirm in YouTube Studio that your channel can go live. YouTube says first-time live enablement may take up to 24 hours.
- Choose an encoder. Select a cloud playout service, cloud-hosted encoder, or compatible dedicated hardware. Compare current features and terms directly with the provider or manufacturer.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the live event and copy its server URL and stream key.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the URL and key in the selected encoder. YouTube’s instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” Keep the stream key private and configure it only in the encoder you chose.
- Start and verify the feed. Check YouTube’s stream preview and status, and confirm the event’s title, visibility, and content before relying on the broadcast.
- Plan for recovery and records. Check whether the service can restart after a disconnect, alert you, and retain your uploaded files. If you need a complete replay, arrange a separate recording or archive plan.
Plan for Archives and Content Rights
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a continuous 24/7 stream will produce one complete replay; verify current archive behavior and keep a separate recording if a full replay matters.

Can I run a 24/7 YouTube stream with my computer off?
Yes, if playout runs on a cloud service or on a compatible dedicated encoder instead of your personal computer. The stream still depends on the provider or device, its connection to YouTube, and access to your media and account.

Do I need a stream key?
The encoder workflow described by YouTube uses the Live Control Room’s server URL and stream key. Keep the key private and enter it only in your selected encoder.
Will YouTube save my entire 24/7 stream?
Do not count on one complete automatic replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so make a separate recording plan if you need the entire continuous broadcast.
