The ZTE Blade S6 was an Android phone announced on January 28, 2015. A contemporary reviewer summed up its unusual name-and-design pairing this way: its name might suggest the Samsung Galaxy S6, but its appearance was more like the iPhone 6. That was the reviewer’s visual shorthand—not evidence that ZTE copied either phone.
Why did the Blade S6 look like an iPhone but have a Galaxy-like name?
The comparison came from a Tech Advisor review published around the phone’s launch. The reviewer contrasted the “S6” name, which might bring the Samsung Galaxy S6 to mind, with a design they considered more iPhone 6-like. These are the specifications in ZTE’s launch announcement. The phone shipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop, then marketed as Android L. The LTE band list is the one given in the announcement; it should not be treated as a guarantee of compatibility with every carrier or regional variant. ZTE’s Blade S6 manual, dated February 10, 2015, is also available for device-specific reference.
What did ZTE promote at launch?
ZTE highlighted Smart Sense gesture and motion controls, the Snapdragon 615, Android L, camera features, Hi-Fi audio, MiFavor 3.0 and AliveShare. The company described AliveShare as a way to communicate without a network. What did the Blade S6 cost, and where was it sold?
ZTE gave a US retail price of $249.99 at launch in 2015. The company said the phone would be available globally online through AliExpress and through Amazon and eBay in selected markets. Those were launch-era plans, not current price or stock information. The launch documents establish the original specifications, but not present-day support or availability. Before buying a used Blade S6, check the exact model and regional variant with the seller and your carrier, confirm that the handset works with the networks you need, and ask about its battery, condition and any included charger or cable. The cited sources do not establish current used prices, spare-part availability, carrier compatibility, or the phone’s present Android and security-update status.
