Zorin OS Core is free to download and use. The official Zorin technical details page lists Zorin OS 18.1 as the latest version—not “18.0R3.” Download the current ISO from Zorin’s official download page, then create a bootable USB drive to try or install it.
What is the latest Zorin OS version?
Zorin’s technical details list Zorin OS 18.1 as the latest release, dated 15 April 2026. The Zorin OS 18 release was dated 14 October 2025. The string “18.0R3” was not substantiated by the official information reviewed, so do not treat it as an official release or the current download. This does not establish whether an unofficial mirror or historical build ever used that name.
Get the current ISO from zorin.com/os/download. Zorin OS 18.1 is based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, and Zorin lists security and software support for the 18 series through 1 June 2029.

Is Zorin OS free to download?
Yes. Zorin OS Core is free to download and use. Pro is a paid edition with additional features, apps, and support. Education and Lite editions are also represented in Zorin’s edition and installation information; check the official download page for the editions currently offered and their details.

Will Zorin OS run on my computer?
Zorin’s published minimum requirements are:

These are minimum specifications, not a guarantee of smooth performance. Allow additional storage for personal files and applications.
Macs, Surface devices, and Chromebooks
- Apple silicon Macs: Zorin says they cannot run Zorin OS natively.
- Intel Macs: Generally compatible, although Macs with T2 chips may require extra steps.
- ARM-based Microsoft Surface devices: Not currently compatible, according to Zorin.
- Chromebooks: Some models may be blocked by manufacturer or Google-imposed limitations.
How do I install Zorin OS from a USB drive?
You need a USB flash drive with at least 4 GB for Core or Lite, or 16 GB for Pro, Pro Lite, or Education. Zorin warns: “All contents on the USB flash drive will be erased.” Copy anything you need from the drive before writing the installer.

- Download the ISO. Choose the edition and download it from Zorin’s download page.
- Make the installer USB. Zorin recommends balenaEtcher. Select the downloaded ISO and the correct USB drive, then write the image. Confirm the target carefully because its contents will be erased.
- Back up your computer. Save important files elsewhere before installing. Installation choices can overwrite data or remove an existing operating system.
- Boot from the USB drive. Restart the computer and select the USB device as the startup drive using the computer’s boot menu or firmware settings.
- Try or install Zorin OS. Use the try-before-install option to test the desktop from USB, or continue to the installer and select the installation method that fits your setup.
Running Zorin OS from USB is slower than installing it on the computer, so treat the live session as a compatibility check rather than a performance measure.

Do not select “Erase disk” unless you intend to remove the data and operating system on the selected disk. If the installer offers an alongside option, read its on-screen description and confirm which disk and operating system it will use before proceeding.

Graphics, Wi-Fi, and NVIDIA notes
Zorin’s installer offers an optional third-party software choice that can install graphics and Wi-Fi drivers and additional media formats. For NVIDIA hardware, the modern NVIDIA boot option applies to newer cards produced after 2013. Zorin notes that full driver operation may require disabling Secure Boot; behavior depends on the particular hardware and configuration.

Zorin lists security and software support for the 18 series through 1 June 2029. Zorin’s point-release guidance says that users on a point release in the latest major series can install the latest updates through Software Updater to reach the newest point release. Zorin does not set a fixed launch date for the next major version: “We follow a ‘release when ready’ policy for major new versions of Zorin OS, so there isn’t an exact date set for the launch of Zorin OS 19.”
