Je iPhone, iPad en Mac passen de klok zelf aan bij de overgang naar zomertijd en wintertijd, zolang twee instellingen aanstaan: de automatische datum- en tijdinstelling en de automatische tijdzone. De Apple Watch volgt de tijd van het gekoppelde apparaat en heeft geen eigen zomer- en wintertijdschakelaar. Hieronder staat per apparaat waar je de instellingen vindt, wat je moet controleren en wat je doet als de klok toch niet meeverandert.
Wat je moet instellen
Apple beschrijft de automatische optie als een instelling waarmee het apparaat datum en tijd automatisch aanpast na wijzigingen van de tijdzone of van de klok. Voor zomer- en wintertijd betekent dat in de praktijk: de automatische tijd moet aan staan, en de tijdzone moet kloppen. Die tijdzone kan het apparaat zelf bepalen op basis van de huidige locatie, maar daarvoor moeten de juiste locatievoorzieningen actief zijn.

iPhone instellen
- Verbind de iPhone met internet en installeer de nieuwste software-update.
- Open Instellingen > Algemeen > Datum en tijd en zet Stel automatisch in aan.
- Open Instellingen > Privacy en beveiliging > Locatievoorzieningen > Systeemvoorzieningen en zet Stel tijdzone in aan. Daarmee gebruikt de iPhone je huidige locatie om de juiste tijdzone te bepalen.
- Verschijnt er een melding dat bijgewerkte tijdzone-informatie beschikbaar is, herstart de iPhone en eventuele gekoppelde Apple Watch.

Op de iPad gebruik je dezelfde route: Instellingen > Algemeen > Datum en tijd, met Stel automatisch in aan. De tijdzone wordt automatisch bepaald via de systeemvoorziening Stel tijdzone in. Als Locatievoorzieningen uitstaan of er geen netwerkverbinding is, kun je de tijdzone handmatig kiezen. Zet daarvoor de automatische tijdzone uit en kies een stad of een tijdzone-offset. Wil je ook datum en tijd zelf invoeren, dan moet de automatische tijdinstelling uit. Meer details staan in de iPad-gebruikershandleiding over datum en tijd.

Mac instellen
- Zorg dat de Mac met internet is verbonden.
- Open Systeeminstellingen > Privacy en beveiliging > Locatievoorzieningen en controleer of Locatievoorzieningen aanstaan. Open daar ook de details van Systeemvoorzieningen en controleer de instelling voor de tijdzone.
- Open Systeeminstellingen > Algemeen > Datum en tijd. Zet de automatische datum- en tijdinstelling aan en zet ook de automatische tijdzone aan.
- Start de Mac opnieuw op als de Apple-probleemoplossing dat vraagt.
Wil je de tijdzone juist vastzetten, dan zet je de automatische tijdzone uit en voer je een stad in. De Mac-gebruikershandleiding over datum en tijd beschrijft deze instellingen.
Apple Watch instellen
De Apple Watch heeft geen aparte automatische zomer- en wintertijdschakelaar in de Apple-pagina die voor dit artikel is gebruikt. De juiste tijd komt dus van het gekoppelde apparaat. Controleer daarom eerst de iPhone- of iPad-instellingen hierboven.

- 24-uurs tijd: open de Watch-app op de iPhone en ga naar Klok > 24-uurs tijd.
- Wijzerplaat vooruitzetten: op de Watch zelf ga je naar Instellingen > Klok > +0 min. Deze optie verandert alleen de weergave van de wijzerplaat. Alarmen, meldingen en de Wereldklok blijven de werkelijke tijd volgen.

Als de klok na de overgang niet klopt
Werk van buiten naar binnen. Begin met de verbinding en de software, en controleer daarna de instellingen per apparaat.
- Internetverbinding en updates: controleer of het apparaat online is en of de nieuwste software is geïnstalleerd.
- Automatische tijd uit of grijs: provider, land of regio kunnen invloed hebben. Ook een Schermtijd-toegangscode of een geïnstalleerd bedrijfsprofiel met beperkingen kan de instelling vergrendelen. Apple vermeldt dat de datum, tijd en tijdzone dan handmatig kunnen worden ingesteld.
- Melding over bijgewerkte tijdzone-informatie: herstart het apparaat en een gekoppelde Apple Watch.
- Handmatig als laatste optie: stel de tijd pas handmatig in als automatische instellingen niet werken. Apple raadt handmatig wijzigen af als je dit doet om appgedrag te beïnvloeden, zoals gametimers.
Systeemklok en Agenda zijn verschillende instellingen
Een wijziging in de systeemklok is iets anders dan de tijdzone die Agenda gebruikt. Agenda-gebeurtenissen worden volgens Apple standaard getoond volgens de tijdzone van de huidige locatie. Met de instelling Tijdzone-override in Agenda verander je alleen de tijdzone die Agenda laat zien; de systeemklok verandert daardoor niet. Zo kun je een afspraak in een andere tijdzone plannen zonder je iPhone-klok te wijzigen. Details staan in de iPhone-gebruikershandleiding over tijdzones in Agenda.
