In December 2024, Chrome Unboxed reported that some YouTube TV subscribers were offered six months at the then-current $72.99 monthly price while trying to cancel. The temporary price lock would have delayed the announced increase to $82.99 per month. It was a selective, account-specific offer—not a discount YouTube TV promised to every subscriber. The report does not establish that the offer is still available.
What the reported offer included
Chrome Unboxed reported on December 16, 2024, that some subscribers entering YouTube TV’s cancellation flow saw an offer to keep their monthly price at $72.99 for six months. That was the main-plan rate before the announced increase. The report described users who saw the offer as receiving a temporary price lock, not a permanent reduction.
The Associated Press reported that YouTube TV’s main plan was increasing by $10 per month, from $72.99 to $82.99, with the change scheduled for existing subscribers on January 13, 2025. YouTube attributed the increase to “the rising cost of content” and other investments. The company wrote on X: “We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this impacts our members.” (Associated Press, December 12, 2024)

Who could get the six-month price lock?
The report said the offer appeared for some subscribers and not others. It did not establish official eligibility rules, geographic availability, or a way to guarantee the offer. Chrome Unboxed described the offer as based on user reports and referenced 9to5Google; it was not an official YouTube announcement. (Chrome Unboxed, December 16, 2024)

How subscribers reported finding it
In the 2024 account, the reported route was through YouTube TV membership settings in a computer browser. The offer appeared during the cancellation process, but it might not appear for your account.
- On a computer, open YouTube TV and sign in to the account that holds the subscription.
- Open Settings > Membership > Manage.
- Choose the cancellation option and review each screen for an offer before confirming cancellation.
- If an offer appears, read its displayed monthly price, duration, and end date. Save or screenshot the terms for your records.
These steps describe the route reported in 2024; they do not mean that beginning cancellation will produce a discount. Do not confirm cancellation unless you intend to end the membership if no suitable offer appears.

Is the offer available now?
There is no confirmation in the cited sources that the six-month retention offer remains available. Treat it as a historical, account-specific report rather than a current promotion. Check your own membership and billing settings for your renewal price and any offer shown to you, and consult YouTube TV’s official plans page for published plan information. Prices and promotions can change.

YouTube later announced genre-focused plan options. Its February 9, 2026 announcement listed the Sports + News Plan at $71.99 per month and described introductory pricing for new users. That is a separate plan context, not evidence that the earlier cancellation offer is available or that existing subscribers qualify for introductory pricing.
