There is no single YouTube TV replacement that is best for every U.S. household. The right choice depends on whether a service carries your local ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC affiliate; the regional sports network (RSN) that shows your team; and the national sports and news channels you actually watch. Check each service’s lineup for your ZIP code and exact plan before switching.
Compare the channels you need before comparing services
A national channel count does not tell you whether a service carries your local station or the games for your local team. Use your home ZIP code to check the available lineup, then verify the particular plan you would buy. YouTube TV’s local networks and add-on availability help page directs viewers to enter a home ZIP code and notes that available networks can vary by location or while traveling.
Make a short checklist before looking at alternatives:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Local broadcast: Identify the ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC affiliates you need. Availability can differ by market.
- Local-team games: Name your team and find the RSN or local station that carries its games. National sports channels do not necessarily carry those games, and blackout or other rights restrictions may apply.
- National sports and news: List specific channels rather than relying on a general “sports” or “news” label.
- Total cost: Compare the regular monthly price after any promotion, plus required add-ons, taxes, or fees.
- Viewing features: Check DVR, simultaneous streams, device support, and whether you value an included on-demand library.
For YouTube TV itself, Google describes the service as including 100+ broadcast, cable, and regional sports channels, but directs viewers to a ZIP-code lookup for local availability. That figure is Google’s service description, not a guarantee that a particular channel is available in every market.

Hulu + Live TV: live channels with an on-demand library
Hulu promotes 100+ live channels, including sports, breaking news, and local and national networks, together with its streaming library. Its Hulu + Live TV offer page lists sports including NCAA, NBA, NHL, NFL, and English Premier League, and news channels including CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. Hulu says local news channels are available in many cities; that does not establish availability of a particular local affiliate everywhere.
Hulu describes its DVR as unlimited, with recordings stored for up to nine months. The offer page displayed a qualifying price of $49.99 for one month, then $99.99 per month or the then-current regular price, for eligible new and returning subscribers. The offer was listed as ending October 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. PT; eligibility restrictions and blackout terms apply. Check the page for the current offer and full terms before subscribing.

DIRECTV streaming: check its local RSN lineup for your team
DIRECTV positions its CHOICE Signature package as its closest match to YouTube TV’s base plan and also offers packages and genre packs such as MySports, MyEntertainment, and MyNews. Its package comparison page emphasizes regional sports network coverage and says streaming packages are month-to-month. These are DIRECTV’s own descriptions, not proof that the RSN carrying your team is included in your area.

Sling TV: choose only if its plan lineup fits
Sling’s Orange and Blue plans have different channel selections, so the service’s name alone does not tell you whether your must-have channels are included. A 2025 editorial comparison describes Sling’s lineup as narrower than broader bundles and says local ABC, FOX, and NBC availability varies by market. Those observations are a reason to check—not a substitute for checking Sling’s current lineup for your ZIP code and plan.
Sling may fit viewers with a short list of required channels who are comfortable going without others. Before signing up, verify the exact plan or plan combination, local affiliates, sports and news channels, and current price. Do not assume an older promotional price still applies.

Fubo: verify each sports channel and the full bill
Fubo markets sports-oriented packages, but that does not guarantee a specific RSN, channel, or game is included. The reviewed coverage flags possible omissions on particular plans and notes that taxes and fees can add to advertised pricing. Check the exact package for every channel you need, whether it carries the games you expect, and the full cost shown at checkout.
How to make the switch without losing a channel or game
- Write down your must-haves. Include local broadcast affiliates, the exact RSN or other channel for your team, national sports channels, and news networks.
- Enter your home ZIP code on each service’s lineup checker. Review the exact plan, not just the provider’s national overview.
- Check game rights and blackout terms. A channel’s presence does not by itself establish that it will show every game you want.
- Calculate the regular total. Account for the price after an introductory offer, plan add-ons, taxes, and fees where applicable.
- Confirm the viewing setup. Check that your TV or streaming device is supported, and compare DVR and simultaneous-stream features if you rely on them.
- Keep the old service until the new lineup is confirmed. If possible, verify access to the channels you care about before ending the existing subscription.
Prices, packages, promotions, and channel rights can change. YouTube announced a rollout of 10+ genre-specific plans on February 9, 2026, including Sports and Sports + News examples; those launch details should not be treated as a current plan or price list without checking YouTube TV’s latest offer.
