The Pentagon says Nidal Hasan’s scheduled execution will be livestreamed, but the available announcement does not name a platform or public viewing destination. The Verge reported that YouTube, Meta and Twitch had not responded to its questions about whether they would allow the broadcast by the time its article was published. That is a dated nonresponse—not a refusal, approval or promise to host it.
What has the government announced?
The U.S. Army says Hasan’s execution by firing squad is scheduled for December 3, 2026, at 1 p.m. local time at Fort Hood, Texas; The Verge rendered the time as 2 p.m. ET. The Pentagon said the execution would be livestreamed, according to the Associated Press, which reported that more details would follow. Neither report identifies a streaming service or public viewing link.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told Real America’s Voice, “We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public.” AP subsequently reported that Pentagon officials clarified the execution would be livestreamed. The statement establishes the government’s stated intention to make the event public, not where or how viewers will access it.

The Verge reported that it contacted YouTube, Meta, Twitch, TikTok, Rumble and Kick, and received no response before publication. For YouTube, Meta and Twitch, that means there was no direct answer in that report. It does not establish that any of the companies will host the broadcast, refuse it, or grant a government exception.

What do the platforms’ published policies tell us?
YouTube
YouTube’s livestream terms say live content must comply with its Community Guidelines and that providers must follow applicable laws and relevant licensing and regulatory requirements. Its help page on live-stream restrictions says YouTube may age-restrict or remove streams that suggest a Community Guidelines violation, or disable a channel’s livestreaming ability. These are general rules; the cited pages do not decide whether YouTube would permit this particular execution broadcast.
Meta and Twitch
The available reporting does not establish how Meta would apply its policies to this event or whether it would make an exception. Twitch’s Community Guidelines provide general policy context, but the available source does not specify Twitch’s treatment of an execution livestream. Silence and general policy language are not enough to infer a platform decision.

Why the uncertainty matters
Three separate questions remain open: whether the government will provide a livestream, which service—if any—will carry it, and whether that service will make it publicly accessible. The Pentagon’s statement addresses its intention to livestream; the reporting does not answer the platform or access questions. No direct platform decision is established in the cited coverage.

AP reported that the 2009 Fort Hood attack killed 13 people and injured 32. AP also described the scheduled execution as coming more than 65 years after the last military execution. These details provide context, but they do not indicate whether a platform will carry the broadcast.
