YouTube Guest Profile Removed: How to Set Up YouTube Kids Again

If the YouTube Kids guest profile has disappeared from your TV or streaming device, set it up again in the YouTube app: open the account page, choose Set up YouTube Kids, then Set up guest account, and follow the prompts. This creates a guest profile; YouTube’s instructions do not say it restores the removed profile’s former settings or viewing history.

Check which YouTube option is missing

“Guest” and “YouTube Kids” are separate choices in the TV app. A missing YouTube Kids guest profile is different from ordinary YouTube Guest mode, which lets someone watch regular YouTube while signed out. YouTube describes the Kids option as allowing a child to watch YouTube Kids while signed out.

If the missing choice is the YouTube Kids profile, use the setup steps below. If you mean ordinary YouTube Guest mode, it is a separate signed-out viewing option; YouTube says guest viewing does not affect the signed-in account’s recommendations. See YouTube’s sign-in and guest-mode help.

Set up a YouTube Kids guest profile again

You can set up a guest profile in the YouTube app on a TV, streaming device, or game console. The exact menu labels or locations may vary by device and app version.

1. Open the YouTube app on the TV, streaming device, or game console.

2. Open the menu on the left side of the screen, then go to the profile picture or account page.

3. Select Set up YouTube Kids.

4. Select Set up guest account and follow the on-screen instructions.

After setup, the profile option should be available on the account page or the Who’s watching? screen. This is a new setup flow, not a documented recovery of the old profile’s data. YouTube does not state whether removing a profile deletes its prior viewing state or whether that state can be restored. See YouTube Kids TV setup instructions.

Remove a YouTube Kids guest profile from a device

If you want to remove an existing guest profile from one device, use the YouTube app’s account page:

1. Open the account page in the YouTube app.

2. Under the guest profile, select the account-management control.

3. Choose Remove from this device.

The documented action removes the profile from that device. YouTube’s help page does not explain whether the profile’s previous preferences or history can later be recovered.

If the problem is signing in, not the Kids profile

These checks apply when signing into YouTube on the TV is failing; they are separate from setting up a Kids guest profile.

• For phone-based sign-in, make sure the phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network and that the phone is not using mobile data.

• If you enter an activation code, check that it was entered correctly.

• If phone sign-in fails, try signing in with the TV remote instead.

• Unplug the TV or streaming device for 30 seconds, then reconnect it. You can also restart the router and mobile device.
