Before requesting a Pixel repair, check Settings > Device health & support and review the diagnostics available for your phone. The menu can help you investigate a problem and may suggest a solution, but it does not test every possible defect or prove that a part has failed.
Where is the Pixel hardware diagnostic menu?
On supported phones, open Settings > Device health & support, then scroll through the health information and available diagnostics. You can also search Settings for “diagnostics” and choose a relevant check; adding a feature name such as battery, charging, or touch can help narrow the results.
Google documents Device health & support on Pixel 6 and later, including Pixel Fold. The available checks depend on the model and feature:
- Most diagnostics are available on Pixel 6 and later, including Fold.
- Touch diagnostics are available on Pixel 9 and later.
- Calls, mobile data, and Wi-Fi diagnostics are limited to Pixel 11 series phones in the United States.
Google also documents Ask Pixel Help on Pixel 9 and later in English, German, and Japanese. Menu items and eligibility can change with the phone model and software. See Google’s Pixel diagnostics instructions for current details.

How do I run diagnostics on my Pixel before repair?
- Open the diagnostics area. Go to Settings > Device health & support, or search Settings for “diagnostics.”
- Choose a check related to the problem. The options shown depend on your Pixel. For example, look for battery or charging checks if the phone is not charging, or a touch check if the screen is not responding and your model supports it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Read any result or suggested solution, then check whether the original problem remains.
- Use Google’s repair flow if the issue persists. Available options depend on your device, warranty status, and location.
Think of these checks as an early troubleshooting step, not a definitive hardware inspection. A diagnostic result may help point you toward a solution, but it cannot establish that every component is working or identify every fault.
What repair options can Google offer?
Google’s repair process shows available mail-in or walk-in choices for supported devices and regions. Coverage and choices vary with the Pixel model, warranty status, and location. Some areas use repair partners, and the current options may differ from the country lists published previously. Start with Google’s Pixel repair options rather than assuming a particular service is available.

When considering a walk-in center, check directly with it about appointments, repair time, and whether diagnosis may incur a cost. Review the estimate and warranty information presented for your specific repair before proceeding.
What to do before sending or bringing in your Pixel
Back up your phone and remove its SIM before repair. Follow the current instructions for your device and repair route; a diagnostic check does not guarantee that the repair can be completed without data loss.

Use Repair Mode if your phone is eligible
Google says Repair Mode is available on eligible Pixel phones running Android 14 with the December 2023 update or later and at least 2 GB of free space. It starts a clean Android OS in a dedicated secure partition with limited functions, so a technician can service the phone without a factory reset in supported cases.
To enter it, go to Settings > System > Repair mode, enter your screen-lock credential, and restart the phone. Do not share that credential with the technician. See Google’s Repair Mode instructions for eligibility and steps.

If Repair Mode is unavailable
Google instructs users whose phones cannot use Repair Mode to factory reset before repair. Back up first, since a reset erases data on the device. Check Google’s current preparation guidance for your phone before handing it over.
