The new YASHICA Crew is a pocket-sized compact camera with a retractable 6x optical zoom, a 180-degree flip-up screen and a listed body weight of 126g. YASHICA lists it at $168.20 USD as a preorder scheduled to ship the week of 26 October 2026. Those are launch specifications, not results from an independent camera test.
What is the new YASHICA compact camera?
It is the YASHICA Crew Digital Camera, positioned by the manufacturer as an everyday camera for travel and group photos. Its combination of optical zoom and an upward-flipping screen is intended to help frame subjects at different distances and take self-facing shots. The listed screen is a 3-inch, 16:9 LCD.
YASHICA’s product page describes the camera as a pocket-sized way to capture distant details and fit everyone into a shot. That is marketing language; it does not establish how well the camera performs in actual use.
What do the zoom and lens specifications mean?
YASHICA specifies a retractable 6x optical zoom. Notebookcheck reports a 35mm-equivalent focal-length range of 31–183mm and a maximum aperture range of f/3.1–6.4 (Notebookcheck). The 31mm wide end is not especially wide, so it may be less accommodating for tight indoor group shots than a lens with a wider field of view. The launch specifications do not demonstrate autofocus speed, zoom sharpness or low-light image quality.

Does the YASHICA Crew have a 36MP sensor?
No. YASHICA lists a 1/3.06-inch sensor with 13MP native resolution and JPEG output sizes up to 36MP. The 36MP figure describes the largest listed output size, not the sensor’s native resolution. The launch information does not explain the processing behind that larger output or provide independent image-quality tests.
What video modes does it offer?
The manufacturer lists MP4 video up to 4K, but its product specifications do not state frame rate or bit rate. Notebookcheck likewise notes that those details were not specified in the launch material it reviewed. Digital Camera World reports native 2.7K recording at 30p by default and options up to 4K at 60p (Digital Camera World). Treat those detailed modes as that publication’s account rather than a fully documented specification on YASHICA’s basic listing; independent video-quality testing is not available.

What remains unknown before buying?

It does not provide independent findings on still-image quality, autofocus, battery endurance or real-world video quality.
