The reported $200 XPS 13 discount was a Best Buy “Techtober” offer, not an Amazon Prime Day deal. Windows Central reported on October 5, 2026, that one configuration had dropped from $999.99 to $799.99; a separate 8GB model was listed at $599.99. Those are reported prices, not confirmed Best Buy prices or stock as of October 7. Check the live listing and exact configuration before buying.
What was the reported XPS 13 deal?
Windows Central reported that Best Buy had reduced an XPS 13 configuration from $999.99 to $799.99 on October 5, 2026—a $200 price cut. The article described the offer as part of Best Buy’s “Techtober” promotion. It was not an Amazon Prime Day promotion. Windows Central’s October 5 deal report
The same report mentioned a separate XPS 13 priced at $599.99. That is a different configuration, so the lower price should not be treated as the same model with the same specifications as the $799.99 offer.

There is also reporting of a $799.99 Best Buy configuration with 16GB LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB SSD. TechRadar described it as having an Intel Core 5 320 processor, a 13.4-inch 2560 × 1600 120Hz touchscreen, Wi-Fi 7, and two USB-C ports. That specification set belongs to the separately reported 16GB configuration; do not assume it applies to the $599.99 model. TechRadar’s October 5 report

Is the 8GB XPS 13 enough for Windows 11?
There is no single answer for every user, and the cited deal reports do not provide workload testing. Eight gigabytes may suit lighter everyday use, but it leaves less memory headroom for running many applications or browser tabs at once than a 16GB configuration. If you expect heavier multitasking, compare the exact 16GB SKU and its current price before choosing; do not infer that one configuration is faster from the reported deal prices alone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to check before you buy
- Open the current Best Buy or Dell product page and confirm the price and availability; an October 5 report does not establish today’s Best Buy offer.
- Read the specification and model details to confirm whether the listing has 8GB or 16GB of memory and how much storage it includes.
- Check the display details and ports for the exact listing rather than assuming the reported 16GB model’s features apply to the 8GB model.
- Compare the configuration you will actually receive—not just the “XPS 13” name or headline discount—against your workload and budget.
Windows Central also quoted Senior Editor Zac Bowden calling the XPS 13 “the new best deal in laptops” and comparing it favorably with the MacBook Neo. That is an attributed editorial opinion, not a verified comparative test result. Windows Central’s report
