The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W (model MDY-20-EB) is best understood as a slim, magnetic top-up battery—not a high-capacity backup. At 6mm thick and 98g, it is designed to stay attached to a phone with little bulk. Its trade-offs are a 3,000mAh rated output capacity, wireless speeds that depend on the phone, and a premium price in the India reviews available.
What makes this power bank different?
The selling point is its form factor. Xiaomi lists the MDY-20-EB at 98.5 × 71.5 × 6mm and 98g, so it is closer to a thin card attached to a phone than to a conventional high-capacity pack. That makes it suited to carrying for a convenient top-up without a cable, rather than maximizing how much energy you can take on a trip.
Xiaomi’s India page lists Radiant Orange, Glacier Silver and Graphite Black. In the box, Xiaomi lists the power bank and a user manual. Its global product page describes a silicon-carbon battery with 16% silicon content and a 4369mm² graphite sheet; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent material analysis. The “5000” in the name refers to the typical cell capacity, not 5,000mAh delivered at a phone’s charging voltage. Xiaomi lists a typical capacity of 5,000mAh (18.95Wh), a rated battery capacity of 4,900mAh (18.58Wh), and a rated output capacity of 3,000mAh at 5V/2A. These are different manufacturer figures measured on different voltage bases; the output figure is the more useful one when judging energy available to a device. How fast does it charge?

Xiaomi’s India specifications give the output limits. The wireless maximum should not be read as a guaranteed speed for every Qi-compatible phone. TechPP says its iPhone 17 test went from 20% to nearly full once and took comfortably over an hour; that is one review’s result, not a charging-time promise for other phones or conditions. Will it attach to and charge your phone?
Wireless charging support and magnetic attachment are separate questions. Xiaomi’s support FAQ lists iPhone 12 and later MagSafe models as compatible. It recommends using no case or a magnetic case for secure attachment. For other Qi-compatible phones, it likewise recommends a magnetic case; Xiaomi says cases should be non-metallic and no more than 2mm thick. Many Android phones do not have built-in magnets, so a phone may charge wirelessly yet fail to align or stay attached reliably. Poor alignment can reduce power or interrupt charging. Do not assume that “15W” means universal Qi2 or MagSafe certification, or that an iPhone or any other compatible phone will receive 15W. TechPP reports lower wireless speeds on phones outside the Xiaomi 17 series. Separately, GSMArena tested the pack with an iPhone 15 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro, but said it did not have a Xiaomi 17 available to test the full 15W mode; its observed wireless results varied by phone, and its Pixel wired test was faster. Can it charge two devices at once?
Yes. Xiaomi says wireless charging is disabled by default while USB-C is charging another device. With a USB-C device connected, press the battery-check button twice in quick succession to enable simultaneous charging. The combined output is limited to up to 7.5W wired plus 5W wireless, rather than the maximum speed of either mode alone. Xiaomi India FAQ Xiaomi India specifications

What about heat during wireless charging?
Xiaomi says some heat during wireless charging is normal and notes that a case, warm surroundings or nearby metal objects can contribute to higher temperatures. The manufacturer also says temperature protection may reduce charging speed. Treat that as operating guidance, not an assurance that every temperature or charging situation is harmless. If the pack or phone becomes unusually hot, stop charging and check the manufacturer’s guidance for the device. Xiaomi support FAQ

These are publication-reported prices, not a settled current price; check a live local listing before buying. At either figure, the case is portability and magnetic convenience, not maximum backup or capacity per rupee. A thicker pack may better suit someone who needs more energy, while a wired power bank may be a better fit if charging speed across different phone brands matters more than cable-free attachment.
