The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank’s main advantage is unusually easy to feel: Xiaomi lists it at just 6mm thick and 98g. The trade-off is that its advertised 5,000mAh is the battery’s typical cell capacity, not the amount it can deliver at a phone’s 5V charging input. Xiaomi rates that output at 3,000mAh, and wireless speed depends on which phone you attach. It makes the most sense if carrying a very thin magnetic charger matters more than maximizing recharge capacity.
How thin and light is it?
Xiaomi India lists the MDY-20-EB at 98.5 × 71.5 × 6mm and 98g. That slim, light body is the product’s defining benefit: it is designed to sit on the back of a compatible phone without the bulk typical of a higher-capacity power bank. Xiaomi Global also describes a silicon-carbon battery with 16% silicon content and a 4,369mm² graphite sheet; those construction details are manufacturer claims, not independent test findings.
What does 5,000mAh mean in practice?
The headline capacity describes the battery cells, not the charge delivered to a phone. Xiaomi India specifies typical battery energy of 18.95Wh at 3.79V (5,000mAh), rated battery energy of 18.58Wh at 3.79V (4,900mAh), and a rated output capacity of 3,000mAh at 5V/2A. The 3,000mAh figure is the more useful one when judging what reaches a device through a standard 5V output.

A phone with a 5,000mAh battery should not be expected to receive a full 5,000mAh recharge from a pack with this rating.

GSMArena’s September 27, 2026 review tested wireless charging with an iPhone 15 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro, but did not have a Xiaomi 17 device to check Xiaomi’s full advertised wireless rate. In that publication’s test setup, the iPhone reached 91% after about 2.5 hours before the bank depleted; the Pixel reached 55% after three hours. GSMArena also found the Pixel charged faster over USB-C than wirelessly. These are results from those specific devices and test conditions, not promises for other phones.
Will it work with your case?
Magnetic alignment and case thickness matter. Xiaomi warns that cases thicker than 2.5mm may compromise the connection, and the magnetic case shown in Xiaomi’s materials is a separate accessory. 91mobiles reviewer Sanket Vijayasarathy described a strong magnetic hold when the power bank was properly aligned, while also noting that case thickness affects grip. If the phone does not attach securely through your case, a thinner magnetic-compatible case may be necessary; check compatibility with your exact phone before buying.

What reviewers noticed
In a review published September 24, 2026, 91mobiles described the product as a convenience-first choice and reported that its unit became noticeably warm or hot during charging. That is the reviewer’s observation under their conditions, not a general temperature measurement or a finding that every unit will behave the same way.
GSMArena’s separate testing reinforces the capacity caveat: the practical output rating and the phone used matter more than the 5,000mAh headline when estimating a recharge. Neither review establishes a market-wide comparative benchmark for slim magnetic power banks.

What is included, and what may you need?
Xiaomi India lists the power bank and user manual in the box. Its specifications say fast wired charging requires a 3A Xiaomi USB-C cable or higher, so check whether you already own a suitable cable rather than assuming one is included. A case is also a separate purchase if your current one is too thick or does not provide a reliable magnetic connection.

Choose it if a 6mm, 98g magnetic power bank is more valuable to you than a larger reserve of usable charge, and if your phone’s supported wireless speed and case fit suit your routine. Consider a larger or wired-first power bank if you need more delivered capacity or expect repeated substantial recharges; compare rated output capacity rather than relying on cell-capacity numbers alone.
