The Redmi Turbo 5 has the stronger listed chip and faster charging. The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has the larger screen and the higher rated battery capacity. The ₹5,000 price gap in India is not a like-for-like difference, because the two phones are listed with different storage sizes. Compare the specifications and prices below with that in mind.
What the price gap actually compares
On Xiaomi India’s own store, checked on 4 October 2026, the Redmi Turbo 5 in 8 GB + 256 GB was listed at ₹41,999, and the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G in 8 GB + 128 GB was listed at ₹36,999. The difference between them therefore combines a phone-model difference with a storage difference. The checked India prices did not establish a same-storage pair, so you cannot yet say how much more the Turbo 5 costs for identical memory.

To judge value, match the RAM and storage first. If the Turbo 5 and Note 17 Pro 5G are both offered in the same memory configuration in your market, compare those two prices directly. Check the seller’s current price on the day you buy, because listings change.

Performance
Redmi Turbo 5
Xiaomi India identifies the Turbo 5 with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra. Its product page carries the slogan “The Fastest Processor In A REDMI Yet!” That is manufacturer promotion, not a test result.
Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G
Xiaomi’s regional specification pages list the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 at up to 2.4 GHz. The clock speed is lower on paper, and that is the only performance difference the specifications establish.

No independent benchmark, sustained-performance test, or hands-on review of either phone was available when this comparison was checked. Treat the chip difference as a specification difference until measured results appear.
Display
The Note 17 Pro 5G has the larger listed screen at 6.83 inches, compared with the 6.59 inches given for the Turbo 5 in a third-party listing. Xiaomi India does not state a diagonal for the Turbo 5 on its own page in the figures checked. Both phones are listed with 120 Hz refresh rates and 3500-nit peak brightness. These are manufacturer figures, and the listings do not state the measurement conditions, so they cannot tell you how either screen looks in practice.
Battery and charging
The Note 17 Pro 5G has the higher rated capacity, at 8340 mAh typical against 7540 mAh for the Turbo 5. That is roughly 10% more rated capacity. The Turbo 5 has the faster charging listing, at 100 W against 67 W.

Neither figure predicts how long a charge lasts or how long a phone runs between charges. Battery life depends on the screen, the chip, the software and how you use the phone. Rated capacity and wattage are a starting point for comparison, not a result.

Rear camera setup
The Turbo 5 is listed with a 50 MP AI dual camera and 4K recording with OIS and EIS stabilisation. The Note 17 Pro 5G is listed with a 50 MP main camera with OIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and its regional specification page lists rear video up to 1080p at 30 fps.
Front camera
The Turbo 5 front camera is listed at 20 MP by a third-party site, and the Note 17 Pro 5G front camera at 16 MP by Xiaomi’s Saudi Arabia page.

Megapixel counts alone do not show camera quality. Sensor size, image processing, stabilisation, and the video modes a region actually offers all affect results, and none of those were tested here.
Durability
Both phones carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings in the Xiaomi listings checked. An IP rating describes results under specific test conditions. Xiaomi states that protection is not guaranteed outside those conditions, so these ratings do not mean the phone is safe for careless water exposure.
Regional availability and buying checks
Xiaomi’s pages say that 5G band support and eSIM availability depend on the region and carrier. Its Mexico page lists NFC as unavailable in that market. Before you order, confirm the following for the exact model you are buying:

- 5G bands supported by your carrier, and whether eSIM is supported.
- Whether NFC is included on that regional version.
- Warranty coverage, local service, and whether the unit is an import.
- Which software features are enabled in your region.
Availability information also conflicts. A 91mobiles comparison shows the Turbo 5 at ₹41,999 on Amazon and labels the Note 17 Pro 5G as upcoming or unavailable. Xiaomi India’s own store lists both phones for sale. Use the official store for the Indian listing, and check the seller before you pay.
Which one should you buy?
- Choose the Redmi Turbo 5 if the listed processor and 100 W charging matter most to you, and the 8 GB + 256 GB configuration at ₹41,999 fits your budget.
- Choose the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G if you want the larger screen and the higher rated battery capacity, and the 8 GB + 128 GB configuration at ₹36,999 meets your storage needs.
- Before buying either, compare prices only for the same RAM and storage, confirm the regional version supports your carrier’s bands and the features you need, and check current stock.
If you need the same storage size to compare, you will need to check current prices in your own market, since the checked sources do not give a matching pair for India.
