There is not enough verified information to name a fair winner or calculate a reliable price difference. Xiaomi publishes specifications for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, but vivo’s official support page listing “S2” and “S2 5G” does not confirm the comparison model’s full specifications or establish where it is sold. Third-party listings also conflict. The clearest current comparison is therefore Xiaomi’s manufacturer-published details versus the unverified S2 5G claims—and a warning to check the exact market and model before buying.

The Xiaomi figures above are manufacturer-published specifications or claims, not independent test results. The vivo details are deliberately separated from confirmed specifications because the available sources do not establish that they describe a verified product sold in the intended market.
What Xiaomi officially lists for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G
Display
Xiaomi’s Global product page specifies a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and claims peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. Those are Xiaomi’s stated product figures, not a direct measurement against the vivo phone. See Xiaomi’s product specifications.

Battery, charging, and cameras
Xiaomi lists a 10,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery and 100 W HyperCharge, and claims battery life of up to three days. It also lists a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. No independent comparative battery or camera test is established here, so these specifications do not prove that Xiaomi lasts longer or takes better photos than the S2 5G.

Software and regional differences
Xiaomi India lists Android 16 with HyperOS 3 and Bluetooth 6.0. Its India specification page says network bands vary by regional availability and operator support; it also cautions that listed package contents can vary by sales region and packaging version. The India package list includes an adapter, USB-C cable, SIM eject tool, and protective case, but buyers elsewhere should not assume the same box contents. Check Xiaomi India’s specifications and package qualifications.
What is—and is not—verified about vivo S2 5G
vivo’s official security page includes “S2” and “S2 5G” in its device-name listings. That establishes that the names appear in vivo support material; it does not provide a product announcement, a complete specification sheet, or confirmation of retail availability in a particular country.

Why there is no dependable price difference
The surfaced prices are India-focused snapshots, not a matched comparison of current retail offers. 91mobiles displayed ₹49,999 for Xiaomi and ₹39,990 for vivo with Amazon labels. Its page also showed release dates of September 25, 2026 for Xiaomi and August 11, 2026 for vivo. These are figures shown on a third-party comparison page, not proof of current stock, an official price, or equivalent configurations. View the 91mobiles comparison.
Gadgets Now, on a page marked updated August 31, 2026, calls Xiaomi “Upcoming,” while assigning vivo an August 6, 2026 launch date and listing an offer price of ₹39,999. Its status and price details do not align cleanly with the 91mobiles page. View the Gadgets Now comparison.

Do not subtract these figures and treat the result as a trustworthy saving. A valid price difference needs one country, matching RAM and storage tiers, prices checked at the same time, and clear labels for list price, sale price, or bank offer. The intended country and matching current listings are not established, so a reliable price difference cannot be stated.
How to make a fair buying comparison
- Confirm the exact vivo model. Look for a vivo product page or authorized local listing that identifies “S2 5G” and gives the model number. A support-name entry or user post alone is not enough to verify the phone’s identity and retail market.
- Match the market and configuration. Compare phones sold in the same country with the same RAM and storage tier where possible. Confirm local network-band compatibility and whether a listed price depends on a sale, bank offer, or trade-in.
- Check the specifications at their source. Compare display resolution and brightness claims, chipset, camera roles and OIS, battery capacity, charging rate, shipped software, update policy, dimensions, weight, and IP rating. Do not infer a performance or camera winner from a marketing label alone.
- Use comparable independent tests for real-world performance. Battery runtime, gaming performance, and photo quality need tests conducted under comparable conditions. Xiaomi’s stated battery-life claim and the unverified vivo figures are not a substitute for such results.
- Verify the actual purchase terms. Check the retailer’s live stock, exact regional model, included charger and case, return terms, and final checkout price before deciding.
Which phone should you choose?
If you need to decide from verifiable specifications alone, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is the better-documented option: Xiaomi publishes its headline hardware and regional software details. That is an evidence advantage, not proof that it is the better phone overall. The available information does not support a dependable verdict on whether it beats the vivo S2 5G in performance, camera quality, battery life, or value. Confirm the vivo model and compare current local listings before treating them as direct alternatives.
