The answer depends on which Redmi Note 15 Pro you mean. Xiaomi sells materially different hardware under that name in different markets, so a comparison with the vivo Y400 5G only holds once the variant is fixed. On published specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G listed on Xiaomi’s India product page has the larger, higher-resolution display, the bigger battery and the broader water and dust rating claim. The vivo Y400 5G (India) counters with 90W charging against Xiaomi’s 45W. The price difference cannot be stated from the material available for this comparison, and the method for checking it is set out below.
Which Redmi Note 15 Pro this comparison covers
Xiaomi’s global specifications page describes a Redmi Note 15 Pro with a 6.77-inch AMOLED display and a MediaTek Helio G200-Ultra processor. Xiaomi’s India product page describes a Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G with a 6.83-inch 1.5K display and a MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Ultra processor. These are not two versions of one phone. Before comparing, confirm which of these your country sells, because the displays, processors, battery ratings and durability claims differ.
The vivo side of this comparison is the vivo Y400 5G as listed on vivo’s India specifications page, which lists a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. The figures below use the global Xiaomi page, the India Xiaomi 5G page and the India vivo page, and each cell is labelled with its source.

Display
All three configurations use AMOLED panels with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, so the difference lies in size and resolution. The Xiaomi India 5G model has the largest screen at 6.83 inches and the highest stated resolution at 2772 × 1280. The vivo Y400 5G uses a 6.67-inch panel at 2400 × 1080, and the Xiaomi global model is a 6.77-inch panel at 2392 × 1080. Pixel counts and panel sizes describe what the screen is built with; they do not measure brightness, colour accuracy or viewing quality, which none of these pages report.
Cameras
On paper, the Xiaomi models have the more ambitious main sensor. The global Redmi Note 15 Pro lists a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilisation and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The India 5G model also lists a 200MP main camera with OIS, but the indexed page does not give its secondary camera details. The vivo Y400 5G lists a 50MP main camera and a 2MP secondary camera.

A higher megapixel count is not a reliable proxy for photo quality, since pixel binning, processing and lens quality all shape the final image. Neither the Xiaomi nor the vivo pages report camera test results, and no independent camera comparison is cited here, so the camera category cannot be ranked from these specifications.

The vivo Y400 5G has the smallest rated battery, 6000mAh typical, but the fastest charging rating, 90W. The two Xiaomi models are rated at 6500mAh (global) and 6580mAh (India 5G), both with 45W charging. The capacities are listed as typical values, and the 90W and 45W figures are the maximum charging ratings published by each manufacturer. They are not measured charge times or battery-life results.

In practical terms, the Xiaomi models will fill a larger battery at half the rated charging speed. Which trade-off matters more depends on how you charge. If you want the shortest time at a charger, the vivo rating is the stronger published figure. If you want a larger battery and accept slower top-ups, the Xiaomi India model’s specifications favour you. Check that the charger in the box matches the rating you are buying for; the included accessories are not established by these pages.
Processor, memory and software
Processors
The three phones use three different chipsets. The Xiaomi India 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Ultra, the global Xiaomi uses the Helio G200-Ultra, and the vivo uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. The published specifications do not establish a performance winner, and benchmark results for these chips in these phones are not cited here.

Memory and storage
The global Xiaomi page lists three configurations: 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. The India 5G page lists 8GB + 512GB. The vivo Y400 5G is offered as 8GB + 128GB or 8GB + 256GB. Comparing prices is only meaningful at the same storage size, which is why the price section below starts there.

The India Xiaomi 5G runs HyperOS 3 on Android 15. The vivo Y400 5G runs Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15. Xiaomi’s global page does not state its software version, so confirm it for the variant you are considering. Update policies are not described on these pages, so ask the retailer or manufacturer if long-term updates matter to you.

Water and dust ratings
The vivo Y400 5G is listed with IP68 and IP69. The India Xiaomi 5G page claims IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, which is a broader set of ratings on paper. The global Xiaomi page does not state a rating, so do not assume the India claims apply to it.
IP ratings describe how the enclosure performed under standardised test conditions for dust and water ingress. They do not promise coverage for water damage, and most manufacturer warranties exclude liquid damage. Read the warranty terms for your country before relying on the rating.
Price difference: what can and cannot be stated
vivo’s India store listings show prices for specific Y400 5G configurations, but those prices vary by storage size, colour and offer, and they change over time. The material available for this comparison did not establish a current, like-for-like Xiaomi India price for the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G. A price difference figure would therefore be unreliable, and none is stated here.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To work out the real difference on the day you buy:
- Pick the country and the exact Xiaomi model (global Redmi Note 15 Pro or India Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G).
- Choose the same storage size on both phones. The vivo Y400 5G at 8GB + 128GB and the Xiaomi at 8GB + 512GB are not a fair comparison.
- Check the official Xiaomi and vivo online stores and at least one authorised retailer in your country.
- Note any bank or exchange offers and whether they apply to both phones, then compare the net price.
- Record the date of each price, since listings can change within days.
Which to choose
- Choose the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G (India) if you want the largest display, the highest rated battery capacity and the broader IP rating claim, and you accept 45W charging.
- Choose the vivo Y400 5G (India) if fast charging at 90W matters more than battery capacity, or if you prefer the IP68 and IP69 ratings with Funtouch OS 15.
- Check the global Redmi Note 15 Pro first if you are buying outside India, because its display, processor and rating details differ from the India 5G model.
If the price gap at matching storage is small, the Xiaomi India model offers more on paper. If the vivo is cheaper at the same storage, its faster charging rating and smaller screen become the deciding factors.
