The Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G differ most clearly in battery capacity, charging, storage and listed price. This comparison uses Xiaomi’s India specifications and store listings; the Note 15 Pro name refers specifically to the India model, and the listed prices are for different storage capacities.

How much more does the Note 17 Pro Max cost?
In Xiaomi India Store listings accessed in 2026, the 8GB/128GB Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G was ₹31,999 and out of stock, while the 8GB/256GB Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G was ₹49,999. That is an ₹18,000 difference between those particular listings—not a like-for-like price comparison, and not a universal or launch-price gap. The Max listing includes twice the storage, and stock or prices may have changed. Check current in-stock configurations in your country before deciding which is better value.

Which phone has the better battery and charging?
On listed capacity and charging wattage, the Note 17 Pro Max has the advantage: Xiaomi specifies a 10,000mAh typical battery, 100W HyperCharge and up to 27W wired reverse charging. The Note 15 Pro is listed with a 6,580mAh typical battery and 45W charging. These figures do not establish how long either phone lasts in comparable everyday use or how quickly it charges in the same conditions.
Xiaomi says the Note 17 Pro Max can provide “4+ days” of use, but attributes that figure to its own simulated light-use lab test; it is not a guarantee, nor a matched independent comparison with the Note 15 Pro. Actual battery life varies with usage and conditions. (Xiaomi India product page)

Do the camera specifications make one a better choice?
The Note 15 Pro has the higher listed main-camera resolution at 200MP, compared with the Note 17 Pro Max’s 50MP main camera. Both have optical image stabilization on the main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide. The Max lists a 32MP front camera, versus 20MP on the Note 15 Pro.

Megapixel counts alone do not show which phone takes better photos or selfies. The specifications provide no matched camera test, so choose based on other priorities unless you can compare the exact models with photos taken in the conditions that matter to you.

Are the screens and processors meaningfully different?
Both phones list a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Xiaomi’s India pages claim peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits for the Note 15 Pro and list 3,500 nits for the Note 17 Pro Max. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a controlled side-by-side brightness measurement.
The Note 15 Pro uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400-Ultra; the Note 17 Pro Max uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, identified as a 4nm chip. Chip names and process node do not establish which phone is faster in real use. No reliable matched performance test for these exact regional variants is available here, so a speed winner cannot be established from these specifications alone.

Which one should you buy?
Choose the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G if
- You prioritize the larger listed battery and faster charging.
- You want the 8GB/256GB configuration shown in Xiaomi India’s listing.
- You value the higher listed selfie-camera resolution, while recognizing that megapixels do not prove better results.
Consider the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G if
- You prioritize its 200MP main-camera specification.
- You find an in-stock offer that makes it meaningfully less expensive for the storage you need.
- You do not need the Max’s listed battery capacity or 100W charging.
Neither is a clear overall winner based only on these specifications and the observed listings. Compare current prices for the same storage tier and local-market version, then weigh the battery and camera features you actually use.
Check the exact market before ordering
Availability, connectivity details and what comes in the box can vary by country. For example, Xiaomi’s UK Note 17 Pro Max specifications say that an adapter is not included and recommend a 100W PD-compatible adapter; Xiaomi’s India specifications list an adapter in the package contents.
