The Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 5G and Samsung Galaxy A36 5G are close on headline specs: both offer 120Hz AMOLED displays and 45W charging. The Redmi’s global specifications list a larger battery and expandable storage; Samsung’s India specifications give it an IP67 rating and an explicit six-generation OS-upgrade and six-year security-update promise. There is no universal price winner: prices and configurations depend on market and seller.
This comparison covers the 5G versions, not the Redmi Note 15 4G. Regional specifications differ, so check the exact model and configuration offered where you live.

What is the price difference?
There is no dependable, universal price gap to quote from the available information. India-facing comparison pages displayed ₹28,999 for the Redmi Note 15 5G and ₹25,999 for the Galaxy A36 5G, a ₹3,000 difference with the Redmi higher. Those are secondary-site price snapshots, not a verified like-for-like official offer, and may not reflect current prices.
For a useful comparison, check both phones in the same country and on the same date, matching RAM and storage, seller, and price type. A sale or card offer should not be compared with the other phone’s standard list price. The cited comparison pages are 91mobiles and Gadgets Now.
Which phone has the better display?
Both manufacturers specify AMOLED-class panels with a 120Hz refresh rate, so the figures establish a similar refresh-rate headline rather than a clear display winner. Xiaomi Global lists a 6.67-inch, 2392 × 1080 AMOLED screen. Samsung India lists a 17.01 cm FHD+ Super AMOLED screen at 1080 × 2340.

Mind the regional difference: Xiaomi India describes the Redmi display as 6.77 inches, curved, and running HyperOS 3, while Xiaomi Global lists 6.67 inches and HyperOS 2. Those pages do not describe an identical specification set; rely on the local product page for the handset actually being sold to you. See Xiaomi India’s Redmi Note 15 5G page.
Which phone has the better camera?
The Redmi has the higher stated main-camera resolution: 108MP versus the Galaxy’s 50MP wide camera. Both cited specification pages list an 8MP ultrawide, while Samsung also lists a 5MP macro camera. Xiaomi lists a 20MP front camera; Samsung lists 12MP.
Those numbers describe hardware, not photo quality. Megapixels and camera count alone cannot establish which phone takes better pictures, and there is no matched camera test here. If camera results are decisive, compare sample photos from the exact regional versions, including low-light, ultrawide and portrait shots.

Battery capacity and charging
Xiaomi’s global page gives the Redmi a 5,520mAh typical battery; Samsung India lists 5,000mAh typical for the Galaxy A36. Both pages specify 45W charging. The larger stated capacity does not, by itself, prove longer battery life: endurance also depends on screen, software, signal conditions and usage.
Xiaomi says its global Redmi package does not include a power adapter and recommends a 45W PD-compatible or Xiaomi 45W adapter. In-box contents can vary by market. Check the local listing before buying an adapter or assuming one is bundled.
Durability: IP66 versus IP67
The Redmi’s IP66 rating and the Galaxy A36’s IP67 rating are laboratory protection ratings, not waterproof guarantees. Samsung India describes its rating as testing in up to 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes and warns that resistance can diminish with wear. Xiaomi’s global page also qualifies its IP66 rating by laboratory conditions and limitations, including liquid-damage limitations.

Neither rating is permission to expose a phone to a pool, seawater, strong water jets or careless submersion. Avoid charging a wet phone and follow the manufacturer’s care guidance. The ratings and their terms are described on the Xiaomi Global specifications page and Samsung India product page.

Samsung’s stated update policy
Samsung India explicitly promises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A36 5G. That is a clearly stated support commitment on the cited page.

Xiaomi’s listed software and support
Xiaomi’s global specifications page lists HyperOS 2 but does not state an update duration. Xiaomi India lists HyperOS 3 on its current product page, illustrating why buyers should verify the local version. Do not assume a support timeline from a secondary comparison listing is an official regional promise.

Expandable storage
Xiaomi Global lists a hybrid nano-SIM/microSD slot and expansion up to 1TB. A hybrid slot can require choosing between a second SIM and a memory card. Samsung India lists 128GB and 256GB storage variants and does not list microSD expansion on the cited page. Confirm slot and storage details for the exact regional model.
Which phone should you choose?
- Consider the Redmi Note 15 5G if its local price is lower or its listed microSD expansion, 108MP main camera specification, or larger stated battery capacity best fits your priorities. Verify regional specifications and remember that capacity and camera resolution do not establish real-world performance.
- Consider the Galaxy A36 5G if you value Samsung’s explicitly stated six-generation OS and six-year security support, its IP67 rating, or its listed macro camera. Confirm that its price and storage configuration compare fairly with the Redmi offer.
Before deciding, compare the actual local price for the same storage tier, confirm the exact display and software version, and check what is included in the box. Neither a listed battery capacity nor an IP rating settles how the phone will perform in your day-to-day use.
