For buyers in India, the Redmi Note 15 5G is the stronger choice if screen quality, camera versatility and a longer promised update period matter most. The realme 16T 5G has the bigger battery and the faster 144Hz screen, and it was the cheaper of the two on Amazon India when the price was observed in 2026. The right pick depends on whether those trade-offs matter more to you than the Redmi’s panel and software support.
Which variants this comparison covers
This comparison covers the India 5G versions of both phones. Xiaomi’s India materials and Android Central’s review describe regional differences in launch timing, configuration and pricing, so a Redmi Note 15 4G or a model sold in another country may not match these figures. Before you buy, confirm that the listing you are looking at has the same RAM and storage tier as the one you are comparing.

Display: sharper panel or bigger, faster screen
The Redmi’s AMOLED panel is the reason to choose it for video, photos and HDR content. AMOLED screens usually show deeper blacks and higher contrast than LCD panels, and the Redmi’s listed peak brightness and HDR10+ support point to a more striking picture. The realme trades that for a slightly larger screen and a faster refresh rate. Its lower HD+ resolution will likely look less crisp in text and fine detail, while the 144Hz panel will feel smoother when scrolling and in fast-moving games. The gap between 120Hz and 144Hz is easiest to notice in those situations.

Performance and benchmarks
The two chipsets sit in the same budget class, and the benchmark results point in different directions. The Redmi leads in AnTuTu, while the realme leads in the Geekbench multi-core summary. Both sets of numbers come from a single publication and test conditions that are not shown in full, so they are useful for direction only. Neither benchmark measures how a phone feels in daily use, and most buyers will find both adequate for messaging, social apps, video and casual gaming.
Cameras
On paper, the Redmi has the more versatile rear setup. Its 8MP ultrawide lens lets you fit more into a shot, and Xiaomi says it records 4K video with optical image stabilisation. The realme’s second rear camera is a 2MP mono lens, which adds little to most photos, so the practical difference is ultrawide framing. Megapixel counts do not translate directly into photo quality. This comparison has no side-by-side sample images, so if the camera is your main concern, look at photo samples from reviews before deciding.

Battery and charging
The realme’s 8000mAh battery is the largest capacity in this pair. Both phones are listed with 45W charging, so neither has a charging-speed advantage on paper. In the PCMark battery test reported by 91mobiles, the realme ran for 17h41m against 17h00m for the Redmi. That is one test with a fixed workload, and real endurance depends on screen brightness, network signal and how you use the phone. The battery advantage is real on paper and in that test, but the margin is small enough that it should be weighed alongside the other differences rather than treated as decisive.
Software updates
Xiaomi states on its India product page that the Redmi gets 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches. For the realme, 91mobiles lists 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates. realme’s own update policy was not available for this comparison, so treat its figures as reported rather than official. If you plan to keep the phone for four years or more, the Redmi has the clearer, manufacturer-stated commitment.

The price gap and what it means
On Amazon India, 91mobiles showed the Redmi at ₹28,999 and the realme at ₹27,999, a difference of ₹1,000 in realme’s favour. Marketplace prices change with offers, seller, stock and date, so these figures are a snapshot from 2026 and not a fixed price. The gap also depends on configuration. The sources do not establish that both phones are sold in the same RAM and storage tier, and Android Central’s review of the Redmi reported launch pricing and configuration that differ from the listing above. A ₹1,000 difference only tells you something when both phones have the same memory, the same seller and the same warranty terms.

Which phone to choose
Choose the Redmi Note 15 5G if
- screen quality and HDR matter more to you than size and refresh rate
- you want an ultrawide rear lens and 4K video with stabilisation
- you plan to keep the phone for several years and want Xiaomi’s stated update length
Choose the realme 16T 5G if
- battery endurance is your top priority
- you want a larger, smoother screen for scrolling and gaming
- the realme listing you find is cheaper with the same storage tier as the Redmi
Check these before you buy
- RAM and storage match on both listings
- seller, warranty and return terms are comparable
- realme’s current update policy on its official site, if long software support is important to you
