On paper, the Xiaomi Redmi 15 5G offers the larger screen, the higher refresh-rate ceiling and the bigger battery. The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G offers an AMOLED panel, a three-module rear camera, a higher-resolution selfie camera and a longer stated software-support commitment. At the Amazon listing captured on 7 October 2026, the Galaxy F17 5G was ₹1,529 cheaper. That gap moves with stock, seller and memory variant, so check the live price before you decide.
Side-by-side specifications
The figures below come from the manufacturers’ own India product pages, plus Xiaomi’s global specification page where it adds detail. They describe what each company publishes. They are not results from independent lab testing.
| Factor | Xiaomi Redmi 15 5G | Samsung Galaxy F17 5G | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD, 2340 × 1080, up to 144Hz AdaptiveSync (Xiaomi India; Xiaomi Global) | 6.7-inch-class FHD+ Super AMOLED, 90Hz maximum refresh (Samsung India) | The Redmi has more screen area and a higher refresh ceiling. The Galaxy has AMOLED panel technology. Refresh rate alone does not tell you how the screen looks. |
| Processor | Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 | Exynos 1330 | Different chipsets. The sources used here do not establish which is faster. |
| Rear cameras | 50MP AI dual camera (Xiaomi India); Xiaomi Global lists a 50MP main camera plus an auxiliary lens | 50MP + 5MP + 2MP, with OIS listed on the rear camera (Samsung India) | The Galaxy has more camera modules. Module count and megapixels do not prove better photos. |
| Front camera | 8MP | 13MP | The Galaxy has the higher-resolution selfie camera on paper. |
| Battery | 7000mAh (typical) | 5000mAh | The Redmi has the larger rated capacity. Capacity is not a measured endurance result. |
| Charging | 33W fast charging | 25W fast charging | The Redmi charges faster on its stated wattage. |
| Water and dust protection | IP64 (Xiaomi India) | Not stated on the Samsung India page reviewed | Only the Redmi’s rating is published on the pages reviewed. |
| Software | HyperOS based on Android 15 | Samsung’s One UI (the page reviewed does not name the version) | Both ship with current-generation Android skins; the pages do not compare features. |
| Stated update commitment | 2 years of Android updates, 4 years of security updates (Xiaomi India) | 6 generations of OS upgrades, 6 years of security updates (Samsung India) | Samsung’s stated commitment is longer on both counts. |
| Launch date | Not stated in the sources reviewed | 10 September 2025 (Samsung India) | The Galaxy is the older launch of the two. |
Display: a bigger, faster-refreshing LCD or a smaller AMOLED
The Redmi 15 5G’s 6.9-inch panel is the larger of the two, and Xiaomi’s India page describes it as supporting up to 144Hz AdaptiveSync, which lets the refresh rate vary with content. The Galaxy F17 5G uses a smaller Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz maximum. Refresh rate matters most in scrolling and animation, and only where apps and games actually use the higher rate. A 90Hz screen is still a high-refresh panel, so the gap is noticeable in smoothness but not a difference between a smooth and a choppy screen.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe technology choice is the bigger question. AMOLED panels are generally associated with deeper blacks and stronger contrast than LCDs, but the sources used here do not measure brightness, colour accuracy or outdoor visibility for either phone. If screen quality is your main concern, look for independent display measurements before deciding.

Battery and charging
The Redmi carries a 7000mAh battery, which Xiaomi describes as typical, and the Galaxy carries 5000mAh. Both are charged over USB, with 33W on the Redmi and 25W on the Galaxy. The Redmi therefore has more capacity and a faster stated charge rate, which points toward longer use between charges and quicker top-ups. Those are inferences from specifications. Real endurance depends on screen settings, network conditions and the apps you run, and neither company’s pages report a controlled battery-life test.
What comes in the box
The Redmi’s charger-in-box status depends on the market. Xiaomi India says the 33W charger is included. Xiaomi’s global specification page says a power adapter is not included and recommends Xiaomi’s 33W adapter. If you are buying in India, confirm the package contents on the listing you are about to buy. The Samsung India page reviewed does not state whether a charger is included with the Galaxy F17 5G.
Cameras: more modules on the Galaxy, a larger battery on the Redmi
The Galaxy F17 5G lists three rear sensors: 50MP, 5MP and 2MP, with OIS on the rear camera. The Redmi is described by Xiaomi India as a 50MP AI dual camera, and Xiaomi Global lists a main camera plus an auxiliary lens. On paper, the Galaxy has more modules, and its 13MP front camera has a higher stated resolution than the Redmi’s 8MP. Those figures show what each phone has, not how its photos compare. Sensor size, processing, lens quality and low-light performance are not measured in the sources used for this comparison, so judge the cameras from independent sample photos.
Processor and everyday performance
The Redmi runs a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 and the Galaxy runs an Exynos 1330. Both are budget-tier chips, and the sources used here do not include a benchmark, game test or thermal test that would show a winner. Treat performance as unproven. If gaming or multitasking is your priority, read reviews that run the same apps on both phones.

Software support over the life of the phone
Xiaomi India states two years of Android version updates and four years of security updates. Samsung India states six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Those periods are the manufacturers’ published commitments and are not guarantees. Over a typical ownership period of several years, the Galaxy’s stated security window is two years longer, and it promises more OS upgrades. Buyers who keep phones for five years or more should weigh this point heavily. Buyers who replace phones every two or three years may not need it.
Price difference
A 91mobiles comparison page, observed on 7 October 2026, showed both phones on Amazon India:
| Phone | Amazon price in the snapshot | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi Redmi 15 5G | ₹21,499 | Memory variant not specified in the snapshot |
| Samsung Galaxy F17 5G | ₹19,970 | Memory variant not specified in the snapshot |
| Difference | ₹1,529 | The Galaxy is ₹1,529 lower, about 7.7% of its listed price |
This is a marketplace listing, not an official price or a guaranteed checkout total. Amazon prices can change daily, and the seller, delivery terms and any offers shown at checkout can alter the amount you pay. The 91mobiles comparison page is the only price source used here. The Samsung India product page also labels the black 6GB/128GB Galaxy F17 5G as “Not for sale,” so do not assume you can buy that variant from Samsung’s own store.

How to check the offer before you buy
- Open the Xiaomi India product page and the Samsung India product page, and note the model and memory variant you are comparing.
- On the Amazon listing, confirm the exact model number, the RAM and storage configuration, and whether the seller is the brand or a third party.
- Check the price at checkout, including delivery charges and any bank or exchange offers, and compare totals rather than headline prices.
- Read the package contents on the listing. Confirm whether a charger is included, since the Redmi’s regional packaging differs.
- Check the return window and warranty terms for the seller you choose before paying.
Which phone fits which priority
- Choose the Redmi 15 5G if you want the largest screen, the faster refresh ceiling, the bigger battery and the faster charger, and you are willing to pay about ₹1,500 more at the snapshot price.
- Choose the Galaxy F17 5G if you prefer AMOLED, a three-module rear camera, a sharper selfie camera, and a longer stated support window, and you want the lower price in the snapshot.
- Look elsewhere or test in person if you care most about measured camera quality, real-world battery life or gaming performance. None of the sources used here measure those things, so decide on independent reviews or a hands-on test.
What these specifications do not prove
- Battery capacity and refresh rate are ratings, not measured endurance or smoothness results.
- Module counts and megapixels do not establish photo quality.
- Chipset names do not establish speed without benchmark results for the same tasks.
- Support periods are manufacturer commitments and can change, so check the update policy on the official page before purchase.
- Prices and stock are snapshots. The ₹1,529 difference applies only to the listing observed on 7 October 2026.
