The Xiaomi Redmi 15 5G is the stronger pick on paper if you want a larger, faster-refreshing screen, a higher-capacity battery and a charger in the box. The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G counters with a Super AMOLED display, optical image stabilization (OIS) on its listed rear camera, a lighter body and a longer advertised software-support period. Neither is an automatic winner; the better choice depends on which of those trade-offs matters most and the price of the exact configuration you can buy.

How much do the Redmi 15 and Galaxy M17 cost in India?
There is no dependable single price gap to quote without checking the exact RAM/storage variant, seller and offer terms. A Gadgets Now comparison result updated September 2, 2026 displayed one listing at ₹21,499 for the Redmi 15 and ₹19,999 for the Galaxy M17. Other indexed comparison variants showed the Redmi at roughly ₹17,999–₹23,499 and the Galaxy at roughly ₹17,999–₹22,999. Which phone has the better display?
Redmi 15: larger and faster on its specification sheet
Xiaomi lists a 6.9-inch FHD+ display with adaptive refresh up to 144Hz and peak brightness of 850 nits. That gives the Redmi an advantage in listed screen size and maximum refresh rate. The adaptive rate does not mean every app will run at 144Hz.
Galaxy M17: AMOLED instead of a higher refresh ceiling
Samsung lists a 6.7-inch-class FHD+ Super AMOLED panel at 90Hz. Choose it if AMOLED display technology is more important to you than the Redmi’s larger panel and higher listed refresh rate. The specifications alone do not establish which screen looks better to an individual viewer.

The Redmi 15 has a 7000mAh typical-capacity battery and supports 33W charging; Xiaomi lists a 33W charger in the box and 18W reverse charging. Samsung lists a 5000mAh typical battery and 25W charging for the Galaxy M17, and says its 25W charger is sold separately.

The Redmi has the larger stated capacity, but capacity alone cannot establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use. Screen settings, apps, signal conditions and usage all affect runtime, and the published specifications are not battery-life test results.
Camera hardware: OIS versus camera counts
Samsung lists OIS for the Galaxy M17’s 50MP rear camera and also lists 5MP and 2MP rear cameras. Xiaomi lists a 50MP AI dual-camera system with an f/1.75 aperture. The M17 has the higher listed front-camera resolution, 13MP versus the Redmi’s 8MP.
These are hardware specifications, not a photo-quality ranking. OIS is a stated feature on the Samsung page, while camera counts and megapixels by themselves do not show which phone takes better photos or videos.

Updates, durability and day-to-day handling
Software support
Xiaomi lists HyperOS 2 with Android 15, two years of OS updates and four years of security updates for the Redmi 15. Samsung advertises “6 Gen OS Upgrades | 6 years Security Updates” for the Galaxy M17 and lists a security-update period through September 30, 2031. Samsung qualifies its software plans as subject to change. On the advertised support horizon, the M17 is the longer-term option.

Dust and water resistance
The Redmi carries an IP64 rating and the Galaxy M17 an IP54 rating; Samsung also advertises Gorilla Glass Victus. These are different specifications, not a guarantee of protection in every situation. Neither rating makes a phone suitable for immersion.
Weight
Samsung lists the Galaxy M17 at 192g, compared with 217g for the Redmi 15. That makes the M17 the lighter phone according to the manufacturers’ specifications.
Which should you buy?
- Choose the Redmi 15 5G if a larger display, a higher listed refresh rate, bigger stated battery capacity, reverse charging or an included charger ranks highest for you.
- Choose the Galaxy M17 5G if you prefer a Super AMOLED panel, want OIS listed for the rear camera, value a lighter device or prioritize Samsung’s longer advertised update commitment.
- Compare exact offers before deciding if price is the deciding factor. Match RAM and storage, then verify the seller and checkout terms; the available comparison snapshots do not establish a stable price winner.
Processor names and camera specifications do not settle performance or image quality. The published information supports a feature-based choice, not a claim that either phone is faster or takes better pictures in actual use.
