The Xiaomi 18 Pro sits in a much higher price tier than the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G: Xiaomi lists the 18 Pro from RMB 5,999 in China, while the Redmi launched in China from RMB 1,599. That is a RMB 4,400 difference between the two starting prices—not a matched-price comparison for every country or configuration. The Redmi’s regional specifications include a larger 8,340mAh typical battery and 67W charging; the 18 Pro’s reported camera and display features are more elaborate, but the available details are not a complete official spec-sheet comparison.
China starting prices: a RMB 4,400 gap
Xiaomi’s Chinese store lists the Xiaomi 18 Pro from RMB 5,999 (listing accessed October 7, 2026). IT之家 reported a China launch starting price of RMB 1,599 for the REDMI Note 17 Pro on July 14, 2026. Subtracting those starting prices gives a RMB 4,400 gap.
These are China starting-price figures from different listings and dates, not current street prices or a comparison of equivalent storage configurations. Local prices, taxes, warranty terms, seller type, and available configurations were not established. For a purchase decision in another market, compare local prices for the same storage tier and date.

How the displays, batteries, and cameras differ
Display size
Xiaomi México lists the Redmi with a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen, larger than the 6.4-inch main display reported for the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The measurements describe screen size, not image quality, brightness, or refresh rate; comparable evidence for those characteristics is not established here.
Battery and charging
The Redmi’s listed 8,340mAh typical silicon-carbon battery exceeds the 7,000mAh capacity Android Central reports for the Xiaomi 18 Pro. Xiaomi México also specifies 67W HyperCharge for the Redmi. Capacity and charging wattage alone do not establish real-world battery life or charging time, and no comparable battery testing is available here.

Camera setup
The reported 18 Pro setup includes 200MP main and periscope cameras plus a 50MP ultrawide. Xiaomi México lists the Redmi with a 50MP main camera that has optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultrawide. Camera resolution and lens count do not establish which phone takes better photos; no comparable camera testing is available here.

Durability and regional buying details
Xiaomi France advertises IP68 protection for the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G and describes water-resistance testing to 2 metres for 72 hours, along with drop certification up to 3 metres. These are Xiaomi’s stated test and certification claims, not a guarantee that an individual phone will withstand water exposure or a fall. Equivalent durability information for the Xiaomi 18 Pro is not established here, so the evidence does not support naming a durability winner.

Regional product pages can differ in memory configurations, network bands, features, and box contents. Consider the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G if
- You are comparing the cited China starting prices and want the substantially lower entry price.
- You value the larger screen, high stated battery capacity, and 67W charging listed for Xiaomi’s Mexico variant.
- You want a 50MP main camera with OIS, while recognizing that specifications do not establish photo quality.
Consider the Xiaomi 18 Pro if
- You are interested in the reported rear display and triple-camera arrangement, including a periscope camera.
- You are willing to consider a phone listed at a substantially higher China starting price.
- You can confirm the specifications, configuration, and local price for the market where you plan to buy.
Component specifications do not establish which phone is faster overall, takes better photos, or lasts longer between charges. No comparable hands-on tests or benchmark results are established here.
