Choose the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max if its reported 8,500mAh battery, faster charging, rear display and camera hardware match your priorities—and you can confirm local availability and support. Choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra if you want Samsung’s officially specified QHD+ display and 5x optical zoom, with a documented regional product listing. Those are specification-based recommendations, not a measured head-to-head verdict: the available sources do not establish which phone takes better photos, lasts longer in real use or sustains performance better.

At a glance: how the specifications compare

Feature Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
Main display 6.9-inch, 120Hz, 1208 × 2624 pixels, according to Gadgets 360 (comparison listing) 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 1440 × 3120 pixels, adaptive 1–120Hz, according to Samsung (official specifications)
Rear cameras Reported 200MP main, 200MP periscope telephoto and 50MP ultrawide (Android Central) Samsung specifies a quad-camera system with 3x and 5x optical zoom; 2x and 10x are described as optical-quality zoom (official specifications)
Battery and charging Reported 8,500mAh; 100W wired and 50W wireless charging (Android Central) 5,000mAh, per Samsung; 60W wired and 25W wireless charging, per Gadgets 360 (Samsung) (Gadgets 360)
Extra screen Reported 2.9-inch rear display for mini-apps, timers and reminders (Android Central) No rear display is specified in Samsung’s product specification table
Weight and ingress rating 203g and IP69K, according to Gadgets 360; verify the exact market model (comparison listing) 214g and IP68, according to Samsung; the company notes resistance may diminish over time (official specifications)
Availability and price Reported China launch from 6,999 CNY; global markets and local pricing are not confirmed in the cited reports (Android Central) (T3) Samsung has an official product listing; check the relevant local market for price and configuration

These are listed specifications, not a controlled comparison of day-to-day experience. In particular, display resolution does not settle which screen looks better, and battery capacity does not establish runtime.

Which phone has the better display?

Both are listed with a 6.9-inch main display, but Samsung specifies the higher resolution: 1440 × 3120 pixels versus Xiaomi’s listed 1208 × 2624. Samsung describes its panel as QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi’s 120Hz figure comes from Gadgets 360’s comparison listing; the cited primary specification source for Xiaomi does not establish a directly comparable panel description.

Samsung says its 6.9-inch measurement is taken across the full rectangle; accounting for rounded corners, the viewable diagonal is 6.7 inches. Resolution is one factor in display quality, not a substitute for a side-by-side assessment of brightness, color, reflectivity or viewing experience.

Xiaomi’s privacy and rear screens

Android Central reports that the Xiaomi has a privacy display that can activate based on location, alongside a 2.9-inch rear display for mini-apps, timers and reminders. T3 describes the privacy mode as narrowing viewing angles by deactivating portions of pixels, but notes limited time with the phone. Treat the implementation and its effectiveness as reported features rather than independently measured results. Android Central’s launch report and T3’s hands-on report provide the feature descriptions.

Which phone has the better camera?

The listed hardware points to different ways of approaching photography, but it does not identify a winner. Xiaomi is reported to use a 200MP main camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto and a 50MP ultrawide. Samsung’s official specification table identifies 3x and 5x optical zoom, as well as 2x and 10x optical-quality zoom. Megapixel counts and zoom labels alone cannot establish photo quality.

  • For distant subjects: Samsung’s stated 5x optical zoom is a clearly specified reach. Xiaomi’s reported periscope camera may appeal to buyers interested in telephoto hardware, but the cited material does not establish a comparable optical zoom range.
  • For portraits and everyday shots: Camera processing, lens behavior and focal-length choices matter alongside sensor resolution. The sources do not provide a controlled image set to compare these factors.
  • For low light and video: No comparable controlled test is established here, so neither phone can be called better on those uses from the listed hardware alone.

For a confident image-quality choice, compare consistent samples from both phones under the same conditions rather than treating megapixels as a result.

Which phone has better battery life and charging?

Xiaomi is reported with an 8,500mAh battery and 100W wired/50W wireless charging. Samsung’s official specification lists a 5,000mAh battery; Gadgets 360 lists 60W wired and 25W wireless charging for the S26 Ultra. The charging figures are listed ratings, not a guarantee of charging time, and charger availability or regional configuration can affect the experience.

The capacity difference makes Xiaomi the stronger specification-based pick for a buyer prioritizing a larger listed battery, but it does not prove longer real-world battery life. Runtime also depends on the display, software, network conditions and workload; the cited sources do not establish a controlled battery test between these phones.

What about speed and sustained performance?

NanoReview lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 for Xiaomi and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Samsung, but its Xiaomi AnTuTu 11 benchmark table has fewer than three samples. That sample count is too limited to support a robust independent performance verdict. Chip names or that sparse score data should not be used to claim which phone is faster in sustained real-world use. NanoReview’s comparison lists the specifications and benchmark data.

Availability, price and buying risk

Android Central reports that Xiaomi debuted the 18 Pro Max in China at a starting price of 6,999 CNY. T3 reports that Xiaomi spokespeople described an overseas launch within 2026, but the cited reporting does not pin down an exact global launch date, list of countries or local price. The China price is not a local MSRP, and availability should not be assumed outside China.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Before buying an imported or newly launched model, confirm the specific device variant, cellular-band compatibility, warranty coverage, software support, storage configuration and return options for your country. Gadgets 360 lists September 23, 2026 as the Xiaomi release date, but that is a database entry, not confirmation of availability in a particular market. Samsung’s official specification page is available for the Galaxy S26 Ultra; local price and configuration still depend on the market.
