The XGIMI TITAN Noir Max is a premium RGB triple-laser DLP projector for a dedicated home theater, with 4K output, broad optical placement adjustment and gaming modes up to 1080p at 240Hz. Its official US price is $5,999, and its headline 7,000-ISO-lumen figure is a peak laboratory rating—not a promise of calibrated brightness in every mode. The trade-offs are substantial: its output can make room reflections more visible, setup and image processing need attention, and there is no built-in smart TV operating system.
What the TITAN Noir Max is—and what it costs
The TITAN Noir Max combines an RGB triple-laser light source with a 0.47-inch SST DMD and DLP pixel shifting to produce a standard 3840 × 2160 image. That is 4K output, not a claim that the imaging chip itself is a native 4K device. XGIMI lists 110% BT.2020 color gamut, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced support.
As of October 4, 2026, XGIMI’s US store lists a $5,999 MSRP and an estimated mid-October shipment; the company says its early Kickstarter pricing has ended. Price, stock and delivery estimates can change, and regional terms may differ, so check the current US product listing or your local seller before buying. XGIMI’s April 23, 2026 launch announcement provides the series context and notes that campaign pricing is no longer available.
How bright is it in real viewing?
XGIMI rates the projector at up to 7,000 ISO lumens, measured under ideal laboratory conditions in Performance Mode. The manufacturer cautions that brightness varies with conditions and recommends other modes for regular viewing. Treat 7,000 as a peak specification, not a calibrated everyday-output figure.

Independent reports illustrate why the mode and test method matter. PC Gamer’s September 4, 2026 hands-on review lists 5,000 lumens sustained. Projectorjunkies reviewer Nikos Tsolas reported approximately 5,000 ISO lumens as a more realistic expectation alongside better white balance and color accuracy; that May 25 review is republished by XGIMI with permission. A separate technical review by Passione Videoproiezione, also republished by XGIMI, measured 6,221 ANSI lumens in Laser 10 Boost mode but warned of high color error, and 4,755 lumens at Laser Brightness 10. In its September 5 update, Passione Videoproiezione explained why it excluded the Boost result from a home-cinema comparison because of color deviation.
These are not directly interchangeable measurements: the reviewers used different modes and methods, and ANSI and ISO figures should not be treated as a single ranking. The practical point is that maximum output may involve image-quality trade-offs. If accurate color matters more than maximum light, evaluate the projector in the mode you expect to use rather than assuming the peak rating describes it.
What the contrast claims mean
XGIMI lists up to 10,000:1 native contrast, with a footnote specifying the iris at f/7.0 and a 0.98:1 throw ratio. That qualification matters: it is a result associated with stated optical conditions, not an unconditional guarantee at every zoom and iris setting. The separate claim of up to 100,000:1 dynamic contrast applies with DBLE enabled; dynamic processing is distinct from native contrast.

PC Gamer describes the image as excellent once set up, but the available review evidence does not establish a universal black-level result across rooms, modes or individual preferences. In practice, placement, room surfaces and image settings all shape what you see. The figures are useful for understanding XGIMI’s claims, but should not be read as a guarantee of the same perceived contrast in every installation.
Does your room and installation suit it?
This is a large, bright projector best suited to a fixed installation where you can control placement and limit stray reflections. PC Gamer found reflected light from room surfaces could be a problem and identified a dedicated dark room with low-reflectivity surroundings as a favorable environment. A bright image does not make a reflective room behave like a dark theater: light can bounce back onto the screen and reduce perceived contrast.
XGIMI recommends a 60–150-inch viewing size, though its stated projection range is 40–300 inches. It supports a 16:9 image, front or rear projection, and ceiling installation. The projector weighs 8.1 kg (17.9 lb) without its desktop stand, so plan for a suitable shelf or mount rather than treating it as a small portable unit.

The optical system offers a 0.98–2.0:1 throw ratio, optical zoom and lens shift up to ±130% vertically or ±50% horizontally. These maximum shift values cannot be used simultaneously: at the maximum in one axis, the other must be centered, and extreme zoom can reduce usable shift. Check the throw distance and lens-shift limits against your room and screen before fixing a mount location.
Prioritize optical alignment
Use physical placement, zoom and lens shift to position and square the image before relying on digital correction. PC Gamer found automatic digital keystone enabled by default in its setup and advised avoiding it when precision matters. Digital keystone can make an image fit a surface, but it processes the picture rather than optically aligning the projector. The reviewer also criticized default image processing and motion smoothing in some modes, so expect to inspect and tune settings instead of assuming the defaults will suit your room.
How capable is it for gaming?
On paper, the TITAN Noir Max supports demanding gaming modes, including 1080p at up to 240Hz. XGIMI’s latency figures are 1ms at 1080p/240Hz in Game Mode with auto-keystone off, 2.2ms at 1080p/120Hz and 3ms at 4K/60Hz. The company also lists VRR, ALLM and AMD FreeSync certification. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent latency measurements in the cited hands-on review.

The resolution and refresh-rate pairing matters: the 240Hz figure is for 1080p, while the stated 4K mode is 60Hz. If you are choosing around a particular console or PC, compare the mode you will actually use rather than treating “4K” and “240Hz” as simultaneous output. The 1ms claim also depends on Game Mode and auto-keystone being off.
Gaming is a credible part of the feature set, but it is difficult to justify a $5,999 projector for gaming alone. PC Gamer argues that the less expensive XGIMI Horizon 20 retains important gaming features and may suit gaming-first buyers better. The TITAN Noir Max’s rationale is its combination of brightness, contrast claims and installation flexibility, not simply its refresh rate.

Yes, if you want app-based streaming: XGIMI explicitly lists “No OS built-in.” The projector does include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Gigabit LAN, three HDMI inputs (one with eARC), USB ports, optical audio and two 12W Harman/Kardon speakers. Those connections let you attach a streaming player or another source, but do not provide a built-in app platform.

Who should buy it—and who should spend less?
The TITAN Noir Max makes most sense for buyers building a premium, fixed home theater who can manage room reflections, check throw and lens-shift geometry in advance, and are willing to tune the picture. Its high output can be useful for a large image, while its optical adjustments offer more placement flexibility than a simple fixed-lens setup.
Spend less if gaming is your main goal, if you need built-in streaming apps, or if your room cannot accommodate a careful installation. The Horizon 20 is a lower-cost alternative PC Gamer points to for gaming-first buyers; the available evidence does not establish it as a better overall projector. For any alternative, compare the resolution and refresh rate you need, brightness in a color-acceptable mode, optical placement range, and whether it includes a smart platform.
