The XGIMI MIRA is a capable integrated 4K ultra-short-throw projector for viewers who can control room lighting and want Google TV, built-in speakers, and gaming features in one unit. It is a less convincing choice for a bright living room: RTINGS found its image washed out with ambient light, despite XGIMI’s 2,000 ISO-lumen specification. Its very short throw also makes cabinet and screen placement a central part of the buying decision.

What is the XGIMI MIRA?

The MIRA is an RGB triple-laser, DLP ultra-short-throw (UST) projector. XGIMI lists its standard resolution as 3840 × 2160 pixels, a 0.175:1 throw ratio, and a supported image size of 80–120 inches. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The short throw is designed to create a large image with the projector close to the screen, rather than mounted across the room.

XGIMI’s U.S. listing showed the MIRA at $1,699 on October 7, 2026. Price and availability can change; check the current XGIMI MIRA listing before buying.

How good is the picture?

Dark-room viewing

RTINGS’ review, published September 14, 2026, describes the MIRA as good for home theater. Its assessment highlights very good contrast, deep blacks, good image depth in brighter scenes, strong out-of-box color accuracy, and quiet operation. RTINGS says the image does not look dim in a dark room, making controlled-light viewing the MIRA’s clearest strength. These are RTINGS’ review findings, not results from our testing.

Brightness and ambient light

XGIMI specifies 2,000 ISO lumens, but a published lumen rating does not by itself guarantee a satisfying picture under room lighting. RTINGS found the MIRA’s brightness mediocre in ambient light and says the image looks washed out in a lit room. If you plan to watch with daylight or lamps on, treat room-light control as a key requirement rather than assuming the specification settles the question.

Motion and 24p content

RTINGS reports that the MIRA has a motion setting that removes judder from 24p content, but enabling it drops the resolution to 1080p. The setting also does not remove judder from European 25p content. If you regularly watch films or video in those formats, consider whether that trade-off matters more than the smoothness improvement.

How close does it sit to the screen?

The manufacturer-listed 0.175:1 throw ratio and 80–120-inch image range make the MIRA’s placement geometry important. UST projectors sit close to the screen, but the exact distance depends on the desired image size and the screen setup. Use XGIMI’s current placement instructions to determine the distance for your room; the specifications here do not establish a single wall-to-projector distance for every image size.

Before settling on a cabinet, check its height and depth, the screen’s position and flatness, and whether the projected image can be aligned with the screen. XGIMI lists auto keystone correction and ISA 5.0 setup and focus features, but no optical zoom. Digital correction can help with alignment; it does not remove the need to plan the physical placement carefully.

XGIMI does not state that a particular screen is required or included. If you are choosing one, check its size, UST compatibility, and suitability for your room’s lighting. A screen may be a sensible part of a UST setup, but no particular screen’s performance is established here.

Is the MIRA good for gaming?

It has a substantial set of gaming features on paper. RTINGS reports support for 1080p at 240 Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR), and low input lag. XGIMI’s own latency claim is 1 ms at 1080p and 240 Hz only with Game Mode and VRR enabled and auto keystone (AK) disabled. That figure is a manufacturer claim under those stated conditions, not a universal input-lag result for other resolutions, refresh rates, or settings.

What are the main trade-offs?

Area What the MIRA offers What to weigh
Picture 3840 × 2160 listed resolution; RTINGS reports very good contrast, deep blacks, and strong out-of-box color accuracy. RTINGS found mediocre brightness in ambient light; its motion setting for 24p judder reduces resolution to 1080p.
Placement 0.175:1 manufacturer-listed throw ratio and 80–120-inch supported image size. Screen geometry, cabinet height, and alignment need planning; XGIMI lists no optical zoom.
Gaming RTINGS reports 1080p/240 Hz, VRR, and low input lag. XGIMI’s 1 ms claim applies only at 1080p/240 Hz with Game Mode and VRR on and auto keystone off.
All-in-one setup Google TV, 36 W listed Harman/Kardon audio, and HDMI eARC. The built-in package does not change RTINGS’ finding about ambient-light performance.

Should you buy the XGIMI MIRA?

The MIRA makes the most sense if you want a large-screen UST system for a room where you can dim the lights, value the convenience of built-in Google TV and speakers, and will use its gaming modes within their stated limits. Its strong reported contrast and dark-room performance suit that use case.

Look elsewhere if your priority is a bright image with lights on, or if you cannot accommodate careful UST placement. The listed price was $1,699 in the U.S. on October 7, 2026, so compare the current price against the value you place on its integrated features and dark-room strengths.

Review and model limits

RTINGS says it purchased and tested the standard MIRA; its calibration page identifies software version V1.6.186. Its findings should not be treated as a guarantee of behavior on current firmware. MIRA Pro is a separate, higher-end model; RTINGS explicitly says its standard MIRA results do not apply to the Pro. See RTINGS’ XGIMI MIRA review and its MIRA calibration settings page for the review and software-version context.
