The XGIMI HORIZON Ultra is a 4K long-throw projector with Dolby Vision, optical zoom and automatic setup features. Its appeal is strongest if you want a bright, flexible living-room projector for movies and casual gaming; it is a less certain fit if you need short-throw placement, consistently strong dark-scene color, or the lowest gaming latency. XGIMI lists brightness at 2300 ISO lumens, but qualifies its performance figures as internal-lab values and says brightness varies by usage conditions.
What the HORIZON Ultra offers
XGIMI identifies the HORIZON Ultra as model XM13N. It uses a 0.47-inch DMD with DLP display technology and a dual LED-and-laser light source. The stated resolution is 3840 × 2160 pixels, and supported HDR formats include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. The projector also supports 3D and MEMC.

The manufacturer lists two 12 W Harman/Kardon speakers, Android TV 11.0, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. These are product-page specifications, not independent performance measurements. See XGIMI’s HORIZON Ultra specifications.
How bright is it in a living room?
XGIMI rates the projector at 2300 ISO lumens. That is a manufacturer specification, not a promise that the picture will remain equally clear in every room or at every image size. XGIMI says its performance data are theoretical values from internal laboratory testing under particular conditions and that brightness varies with use. A controlled evening room is a safer expectation for cinematic viewing than assuming the figure guarantees a satisfying picture in direct daylight. XGIMI’s product page includes the brightness qualification.

Room lighting and the kind of content you watch matter as much as the headline rating. TechRadar’s review observed that darker content can stretch the projector’s lower-end color performance; treat that as the reviewer’s observation, not a universal test result. See TechRadar’s HORIZON Ultra review.
Will it fit your room and screen?
This is a long-throw projector, not a short-throw model. XGIMI specifies a 1.2–1.5:1 throw ratio, optical zoom and an image range of 40–200 inches. The zoom gives some flexibility, but it does not eliminate the need to check the distance from the projector to your screen or wall.

Before choosing a screen size, measure the available throw distance and use the product’s stated ratio to confirm that the image will fit. A larger image also makes room lighting more consequential. XGIMI lists front, rear and ceiling projection positions. Its ISA 3.0 setup features include autofocus, automatic keystone correction, screen alignment, obstacle avoidance, eye protection and wall-color adaptation. These can make setup easier, but they do not replace planning the image area and projector position. The specifications are listed on XGIMI’s product page.
Is it good for gaming?
XGIMI lists game-mode latency of at most 18 ms with AK off. That specification comes with a setting condition and is not a guarantee for every mode or setup. RTINGS characterizes the projector as an “alright living-room gaming projector,” favoring image quality—especially brightness—over raw speed. That makes it a more natural match for casual or single-player gaming than for players who prioritize competitive responsiveness. Read RTINGS’ HORIZON Ultra review.

Is the HORIZON Ultra worth its current price?
At the time of checking on October 4, 2026, XGIMI’s US store displayed a price of $999.00 and a comparison price of $1,699.99. Store prices can change, so check the live XGIMI US listing before buying. Those figures apply to the US storefront, not necessarily other regions or retailers.
Whether it is a good buy depends on which features you will use. The combination of 4K resolution, Dolby Vision support, optical zoom and automatic setup is relevant if you want a flexible home projector and have enough room for a long throw. The brightness rating may be attractive for a living room, but it should not be treated as proof of reliable daylight performance. If your priorities are dark-scene rendering or competitive gaming, the review observations and latency tradeoff deserve particular weight.
Quick Recap
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want a 4K projector with Dolby Vision, zoom and setup assistance, and can plan placement around a 1.2–1.5:1 throw ratio.
- Think carefully if you expect frequent daytime viewing or place a high priority on dark-scene color; the manufacturer’s brightness figure has usage-condition caveats, and TechRadar reported a limitation in darker content.
- Look elsewhere if your room requires a short-throw projector or your main goal is the fastest response for competitive gaming.
