The XGIMI AURA 2 is a premium ultra-short-throw (UST) laser projector with manufacturer-listed 4K resolution, 2,300 ISO lumens, and support for image sizes from 90 to 150 inches. It may suit a large-screen setup where a conventional projector cannot be mounted far away, but its short throw does not eliminate placement or screen-planning requirements. Check the model number before buying: XGIMI lists WM03B with Android TV 11.0 and a separate “AURA 2 (New)” WM18P with Google TV. The specifications below are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

What this review covers

This review covers the XGIMI AURA 2 as represented by XGIMI’s official US listings. Those listings include two distinct versions: WM03B and “AURA 2 (New)” WM18P. Their software platforms and some listed specifications differ, so the name alone is not enough to identify the unit. XGIMI’s product pages were accessed in 2026; they do not establish when every listed specification was first published. Check XGIMI’s official AURA 2 listings and specifications before purchase.

No independent measurements of brightness, contrast, noise, image uniformity, latency, or long-term reliability are established here. Accordingly, figures such as brightness and contrast should be read as vendor specifications, not verified performance in a living room.

What are the AURA 2’s key specifications?

XGIMI classifies the AURA 2 as a UST laser projector using DLP and a 0.47-inch DMD. Its official specifications list 3840 × 2160 pixels, 2,300 ISO lumens, a 0.177:1 throw ratio, and a 90–150-inch image range. The manufacturer also lists 99% DCI-P3 color gamut; that is a vendor claim, not an independent measurement.

Specification XGIMI’s listing
Projector type UST laser; DLP, 0.47-inch DMD
Resolution 3840 × 2160 pixels
Brightness 2,300 ISO lumens
Throw ratio 0.177:1
Listed image size 90–150 inches
HDR and image-format support Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced (OTA)
Built-in audio Four 15 W Harman/Kardon speakers; Dolby Atmos and DTS formats listed
Connections and wireless HDMI (one eARC), USB, LAN, headphone and optical outputs, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2

Format compatibility is not a measurement of HDR image quality. Similarly, XGIMI lists dynamic 1,000,000:1 contrast for WM18P and latency “down to 20ms (AK off),” but these are manufacturer claims; the listing does not provide independent test results or enough detail to generalize the latency figure to every use case.

How far from the wall does the AURA 2 need to sit?

The listed 0.177:1 throw ratio means the image width is about 0.177 times the projector-to-screen distance, before allowing for setup details. For a rough geometry check, a 100-inch 16:9 image is about 87 inches wide, implying approximately 15.4 inches from the lens to the screen plane at that ratio. That is a calculation from the listed ratio and image dimensions, not a guaranteed chassis-to-wall clearance: the lens position, cabinet depth, screen frame, and exact installation affect the space needed.

Because XGIMI lists a 90–150-inch range, measure the intended image size and the available console depth before committing. A UST projector sits close to the screen, but small placement changes can alter image size and alignment. Follow the placement guidance for the exact model and use the screen plane—not simply the wall—as the reference.

Does the AURA 2 need an ALR screen?

No screen is listed as included. XGIMI sells its UST ALR screen separately and recommends its official screen for optimal image recognition. Treat an ALR screen as an optional but potentially important part of the setup, especially if the room has ambient light; confirm the screen’s dimensions and compatibility with the selected AURA 2 and desired image size before buying. The projector’s listed 2,300 ISO lumens alone do not establish how the image will look in a bright room.

A screen adds to the total system cost and installation work. If planning to project directly onto a wall, the result will depend on that surface and room conditions; the manufacturer recommendation does not establish that every wall or third-party screen will perform equivalently.

What is the difference between AURA 2 and AURA 2 New?

XGIMI’s US listings distinguish WM03B from “AURA 2 (New),” model WM18P. The confirmed differences in those listings are:

These are distinct product listings, not interchangeable names for a single confirmed software configuration. Check the model number on the retailer’s listing and packaging, and confirm which platform is installed rather than assuming a listing titled “AURA 2” identifies the newer model. XGIMI does not establish here that every other specification is identical across the two revisions.

How are the audio and connections equipped?

The listed sound system is four 15 W Harman/Kardon speakers, with Dolby Atmos and DTS formats noted. That tells you what the product supports, not how it sounds in a particular room; no listening assessment is established here. For a separate sound system, the listed HDMI eARC connection can be relevant, alongside optical output.

XGIMI lists HDMI, including one eARC port, USB, LAN, headphone and optical outputs, plus Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Check the port layout and number of HDMI inputs on the exact unit if you plan to connect several sources directly.

Is the XGIMI AURA 2 worth it?

It is a plausible candidate if you specifically want a large 90–150-inch image from a projector positioned near the screen, and you are prepared to plan the console, image size, and screen together. Its listed 4K resolution, supported HDR formats, wireless options, and built-in audio make the feature set broad on paper.

Whether it is worth the purchase depends on factors not settled by specifications alone: real brightness and contrast in your room, image uniformity, operating noise, input lag in your chosen mode, and the cost of a suitable screen. No current price or stock status is established here, so compare the live price of the exact model—including any screen—before deciding. Buyers wanting Google TV should verify WM18P; WM03B is listed with Android TV 11.0.
