Xfinity Mobile is worth considering if you already pay for Xfinity Internet and want a phone line that costs less than a standalone carrier plan. As listed on Xfinity’s support pages in early October 2026, Mobile Select costs $30 per line per month and Mobile Plus costs $45, before taxes and fees. The savings come with conditions: Select caps premium data at 50 GB, the service needs an Xfinity Internet account, and the Verizon connection is a reseller arrangement that Comcast announced in 2016 and that Xfinity’s current consumer pages do not fully describe. Treat Xfinity Mobile as a bundle-driven option to test against your own bill and your own address, not as a guaranteed copy of Verizon service.
Who can get Xfinity Mobile
Xfinity Mobile is tied to Xfinity Internet. Xfinity’s support material states that you need Xfinity Internet service to use Xfinity Mobile, and that service availability varies by location. If you do not have Xfinity Internet at your home address, the phone plans are not a standalone option.
Current plans and what they cost
Xfinity currently offers two phone plans. The prices below are the per-line figures listed on Xfinity’s support pricing article in early October 2026. Taxes and fees may be extra, and prices can change.
| Feature | Mobile Select | Mobile Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Listed price per line per month | $30 | $45 |
| Price basis | Includes the internet multi-product discount in the displayed price | Includes the internet multi-product discount in the displayed price |
| Premium data | 50 GB; after that, data is no longer prioritized and may temporarily be slower than other traffic during congestion | Unlimited premium data, listed as not deprioritized or slowed |
| Personal hotspot at 5G speeds | 15 GB, then unlimited hotspot use at 3G speeds | 50 GB, then unlimited hotspot use at 3G speeds |
| Advertised video resolution | 720p (plan page) | 4K (plan page) |
| Default streaming setting | 480p; HD streaming must be enabled (support page) | 480p; HD streaming must be enabled (support page) |
The price gap of $15 per line is the central trade-off. Select suits light-to-moderate data users who rarely exceed 50 GB in a month. Plus removes the premium-data ceiling, which matters if you stream a lot, tether often, or share the line with heavy users. Xfinity’s comparison pages are company marketing, so if you quote a savings figure, state the plans compared and the date.
#1 Best Overall
- WHAT YOU GET: Three (3) months of unlimited talk, text, and data delivered on the nation's largest 5G network. Data speeds may slow after 50GB when network is busy but data is unlimited. Videos stream at 480p.

- HOW YOU GET IT: The SIM Kit comes with a 3-in-1 SIM card that includes standard/micro/nano sizes, insert the SIM into your device, and activate on the Mint Mobile website or app. You can activate service on your own unlocked device with our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program. Check your coverage and phone compatibility on the Mint Mobile website.
- WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who hates their phone bill
- WHY YOU SHOULD GET IT: Mint Mobile took what’s wrong with wireless and made it right. We re-imagined the wireless shopping experience and made it easy and online.
Video quality: the advertised figure is not the default
Xfinity’s plan page advertises 720p video for Select and 4K for Plus. Its more detailed support page says video streaming defaults to 480p and that customers need to turn on HD streaming. If picture quality matters to you, enable HD in your account settings before you judge the service, and confirm that the setting applies to the apps you use.
The free-line offer
Xfinity advertises a free Mobile Select line for a year, but the offer has several conditions:
- It is limited to new members.
- It is not available in all areas.
- It requires residential post-pay internet of 300 Mbps or above.
- It is limited to the value of one Select line, delivered as 12 monthly bill credits.
- After the first year, regular pricing applies, and taxes, fees, and other charges may apply.
Because the offer depends on your internet speed tier, check it against your current internet plan before you count on it.

The legacy By the Gig option
Xfinity’s support pricing article says the By the Gig option is closed to customers who joined on or after April 22, 2026. Existing eligible customers may keep it. If you are on By the Gig, do not switch plans or move to current pricing without checking whether you can return to it later, because that change can end access to the option.
How the Verizon connection works today
Comcast’s 2016 corporate announcement said that Comcast and Charter had each activated a mobile virtual network operator reseller agreement with Verizon Wireless. That is the documented basis for describing Xfinity Mobile as Verizon-linked. It is a historical fact with a date attached.
Xfinity’s current coverage and plan pages refer to 5G, 4G LTE, and Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots, but they do not spell out the full present-day wholesale arrangement or whether the relationship is exclusive. Do not assume that Xfinity Mobile performs the same as Verizon’s own postpaid service, and do not rely on the 2016 announcement as proof of current terms. If the Verizon link is a deciding factor, ask Xfinity directly how its current network arrangement works.

Coverage, Wi-Fi, and the awards Xfinity cites
Xfinity describes its service as combining cellular access with Wi-Fi hotspots. The figures and rankings it cites are attributed as follows:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- 20+ million Wi-Fi hotspots: Xfinity’s coverage page, accessed in 2026.
- Combined Wi-Fi and mobile quality award: attributed by Xfinity to Opensignal’s USA Converged Experience report, April 2026.
- Reliability claim: Xfinity cites RootMetrics’ State of the Mobile Union, United States, 2H 2025. RootMetrics states that its rankings are not an endorsement of Xfinity Mobile.
None of these figures guarantees service at a particular home, workplace, or travel route. Xfinity offers an address or ZIP-code check for 5G, LTE, and Wi-Fi availability, and that check is the only reliable way to judge coverage where you live and work. Xfinity’s customer agreement also states that network capacity, your device, terrain, buildings, foliage, and weather can affect service, and that cellular service is not guaranteed.

Xfinity says most modern unlocked devices from Apple, Samsung, Google, and Motorola may be compatible, but compatibility depends on the exact handset, so check each phone before you switch. A new phone is optional for many switchers.
Rank #4
- NO CONTRACT: Pay $5 - $25/month for a fully customizable phone plan - choose your talk, text, and data with no strings attached; upgrade, downgrade or cancel your plan anytime with no penalties
- UNIVERSAL SIM CARD INCLUDED: The kit contains one three-in-one SIM card (nano, micro, and standard sizes) to fit most unlocked GSM-compatible smartphones
- NATIONWIDE 5G COVERAGE: Stay connected coast to coast with nationwide coverage on America's largest 5G network
- INTERNATIONAL CALLS TO 60+ COUNTRIES: All Tello plans include international calling to over 60 countries
- EASY ACTIVATION: Bring your own phone and activate your SIM on the Tello website; check your phone compatibility and coverage maps before purchasing to confirm service in your area
- Confirm that the phone is unlocked from your current carrier. A carrier-locked phone will not work on Xfinity Mobile.
- Find the phone’s IMEI (on most phones, dial *#06#) and enter it in Xfinity’s compatibility checker.
- Choose eSIM setup through the Xfinity app, or request a physical SIM.
- To keep your number, gather your account information and the transfer PIN from your current carrier, then provide both during Xfinity’s setup.
- Keep your current service active until the number has moved to Xfinity Mobile, so you do not lose calls or texts during the transfer.
If your current phone is locked, incompatible, or unavailable, buying an unlocked 5G smartphone is an option, but only after the IMEI checker confirms that the model will work on Xfinity Mobile.
Which readers should choose Xfinity Mobile
- Likely a good fit: you already have Xfinity Internet, your usage is moderate and fits within 50 GB of premium data on Select, and your home and daily routes show good coverage on Xfinity’s map.
- Consider Plus: you use a lot of data, tether often, or want unlimited premium data without deprioritization.
- Be cautious: your address is not covered well, you depend on consistent coverage in rural or indoor-heavy locations, or you need the Verizon relationship to mean identical service.
- Compare first: get a quote from a direct carrier for the same line count, add taxes and fees to both sides, and compare the total monthly cost after discounts.
What this review is based on
This review draws on Xfinity’s published plan, pricing, device, coverage, and customer-agreement pages, plus Comcast’s 2016 announcement. It does not reflect hands-on testing of the service, and it does not include independent neighborhood-level comparisons with Verizon.
