The 2024 Xbox Wireless Headset refresh includes Dolby Atmos at no extra cost and raises Xbox’s advertised battery estimate from up to 15 to up to 20 hours per charge. Xbox also says it improved auto-mute and voice isolation and updated Bluetooth to version 5.3. The battery figure is a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed runtime.
What changed in the 2024 Xbox Wireless Headset?
Microsoft announced the refreshed Xbox Wireless Headset on October 22, 2024. The changes it highlighted are included Dolby Atmos, a higher advertised battery estimate, enhanced auto-mute and voice isolation, and Bluetooth 5.3. These are features and figures stated by Xbox; no independent test results for this headset are established by the available official product materials. Read Xbox’s announcement.

Does the Xbox Wireless Headset include Dolby Atmos?
Yes. Xbox says Dolby Atmos is available on the refreshed headset at no additional cost. Atmos is a spatial-audio format, not a guarantee that every game, movie, or device will produce Atmos audio: the content and playback setup need to support it. Xbox also lists Windows Sonic and DTS Headphone:X among the headset’s supported spatial-audio technologies. DTS Headphone:X may involve extra purchases, an app download, and supported hardware; see Xbox’s product specifications.

How long does the battery last, and how long does charging take?
Xbox advertises up to 20 hours of playtime per charge. The phrase “up to” matters: Microsoft says battery life varies significantly with distance from the console, additional accessories, and usage, and says its test used pre-production units. The estimate should not be treated as a measured runtime for every player or setup.
