Xbox and IKEA’s YXSTABY is a nine-piece gaming furniture and accessories collection designed for homes where gaming shares space with dining, relaxing and everyday living. It combines movable storage, screen and laptop supports, flexible seating and Xbox-inspired details rather than presenting every item as a conventional desk setup.
IKEA announced the collection on August 26, 2026. Xbox Wire reported on October 1 that the range began a worldwide rollout that day, while noting that availability varies by market. IKEA’s earlier announcement said stores and online sales would start October 1; Xbox said online availability would follow later in 2026. Check your local IKEA listing for current stock, delivery status and exact product names.
What is the IKEA and Xbox YXSTABY collection?
YXSTABY is a collaboration between IKEA and Xbox for people who play in multipurpose rooms rather than dedicated gaming rooms. IKEA says designers from both teams worked on every piece, considering players and the people who share their homes.
The collection uses familiar Xbox forms, especially the controller D-pad and thumbstick, in furniture and decorative objects. IKEA describes a muted palette of white, black and beige, with green used to highlight pockets, slings and compartments. Philip Dilé, Product Design Developer at IKEA of Sweden, said: “Together, we set out to make furniture people really want in their home, not furniture they accept because it is what you need to game.”

IKEA also describes gaming as part of everyday life for more than 3 billion people. That figure is an IKEA statement; its announcement does not identify the underlying dataset or methodology.

How the mobile pieces support shared rooms
TV stand on castors
The rolling TV stand is intended to follow the activity instead of locking the television to one wall. IKEA describes it as the first TV stand of this kind it has developed, with shelves, rear storage for equipment and cable management. Its value is flexibility: the same screen can serve a sofa, a different seating area or another room without installing a second setup.

- Electric Height Adjustable Standing Desk for Comfortable Work - Switch effortlessly between sitting and standing with this electric standing desk. The smooth height adjustment from 28.35" to 46.46" helps promote a more comfortable working posture and keeps your energy flowing throughout the workday. Ideal for home offices, gaming setups, and productivity workspaces.
- Powerful Motor with Memory Presets - Equipped with a quiet, powerful lift motor, this sit stand desk allows seamless adjustments at the touch of a button. Save up to 4 preferred height settings so you can instantly return to your perfect working position every time.
- Exceptional Stability Steel Frame - Built with a heavy-duty alloy steel frame and aerospace-grade lifting columns, this adjustable desk remains stable even at maximum height. Tested for 100,000 lift cycles, it delivers long-lasting durability for daily work, studying, or gaming.
- Easy Assembly & Low-VOC Materials - Designed with low-VOC materials to help reduce indoor emissions and create a healthier workspace. With simplified assembly and included tools, you can set up your new adjustable standing desk workstation quickly and start working comfortably.
Side table on castors
The side table is a smaller companion for a sofa or chair. It can move with the player, hide accessories behind sliding doors and keep a controller or other small device near a charging point. It is more of an accessory hub than a replacement for a full desk.
Laptop support/toolbox
This piece addresses the problem of temporary play at a dining table. Controllers, cables and hardware go inside the toolbox; closing it converts the lid into a laptop stand. When the session ends, the surface can be cleared without leaving a permanent gaming workstation behind.
What does the YXSTABY monitor stand include?
IKEA describes the monitor stand as supporting one or two screens. It raises the displays and adds storage below, with dedicated holders for a phone, headphones and controller. That combination targets a compact monitor setup where vertical organization matters more than a large desktop footprint.

The announcement does not establish dimensions, supported monitor weights, adjustment range, materials, cable-port details or independent ergonomic performance. Confirm those points in the product listing before buying, especially for heavy displays or monitor arms.

What are the seating and display pieces like?
Gaming lounge chair
The lounge chair is designed for changing posture between leaning back and leaning forward, and it has a pocket for a controller. Those are the designers’ intended-use claims, not results from an independent ergonomic test. It should therefore be viewed as living-room seating with gaming features, not as a substitute for a task chair selected for long desk sessions.
Thumbstick stool
The thumbstick stool draws on Xbox controller design files. IKEA designer David Wahl described its curved, stable seat and movement: “It even moves the way a thumbstick does, so it tilts with you while you play.” The quote explains the design concept; it is not a standardized stability or ergonomic rating.

Mirrored controller display box
The mirrored box is primarily a display object. Its reflective construction is intended to show a controller from multiple sides while also accommodating figurines and other collectibles. It makes more sense for a collection or living-room display than for cable or console storage.
D-pad cushion and platter
These pieces carry the D-pad motif into soft furnishing and servingware. They let a room reference Xbox visually without adding another screen, desk or large storage unit.
How should you choose among the pieces?
Start with the room’s job, then choose the item that solves the biggest practical constraint.
Best Value
- 【Friendly Remind】This Veken standing desk is built with joined pieces (not one whole)
- Massive Workspace: With a generous 63"x28" desktop, this electric standing desk offers plenty of room for multiple monitors, office essentials, and more—giving you the space you need to stay organized and productive
- Easy Assembly: Pre-installed threaded metal inserts and metal connectors make assembly straightforward and hassle-free. This thoughtful design not only simplifies setup but also enhances the desk's long-term durability
- Dual-Beam Construction: The robust dual-beam frame ensures exceptional stability, minimizing wobble during both use and height adjustments. The strong legs provide reliable weight capacity and lasting durability for daily work routines
- Electric Height Adjustment: A quiet motor (under 52 decibels) smoothly adjusts the desk height from 28.3" to 46.5" to support both sitting and standing positions. Save your preferred heights with the memory preset feature and easily reduce sedentary time throughout the day
- For sofa or flexible-room play: prioritize the TV stand on castors, side table on castors or lounge chair.
- For a fixed monitor setup: consider the monitor stand if screen elevation and small-item organization are the problem.
- For temporary laptop gaming: the laptop support/toolbox is the most directly suited option because it stores gear and clears the table afterward.
- For cable and equipment control: compare the TV stand’s rear storage and cable management with the monitor stand’s under-shelf storage; neither should be assumed to hide every cable or fit every device without checking specifications.
- For decoration or collecting: choose the mirrored display box, D-pad cushion, platter or thumbstick stool rather than buying a support product you do not need.
- For long sessions at a desk: do not assume the lounge chair or stool replaces dedicated ergonomic equipment. The official descriptions provide design intent, not independent long-duration testing.
When did YXSTABY launch, and where can you buy it?
IKEA announced YXSTABY on August 26, 2026. Xbox Wire’s October 1 launch post said the collection became available worldwide starting October 1, with IKEA stores opening availability that day and online availability arriving later in 2026. IKEA’s announcement also pointed to October 1 for stores and online. Because the statements describe different online timing and both qualify availability by market, treat launch status as location-specific.
Buy through IKEA’s local website or stores, and verify the current listing before traveling or ordering. The official launch materials reviewed do not establish universal prices, SKU numbers, dimensions, warranties or inventory.
What the collaboration is—and is not
Xbox Head of Design Carl Ledbetter said: “By translating elements like the D-pad and thumbstick into functional furniture, we created pieces that celebrate Xbox design while feeling completely at home in everyday living spaces.” That summarizes YXSTABY’s central trade-off: recognizable gaming details adapted for ordinary rooms.

The range is not a single complete gaming rig, and it does not provide standardized evidence that any chair, stool or stand improves posture or performance. Its strongest case is practical flexibility: move the screen, bring storage to the seat, support a temporary laptop station, or add gaming references without dedicating an entire room to gaming.
