Wultra announced a €3 million Seed+ round on January 15, 2025, to develop post-quantum authentication and expand in Western Europe and Southeast Asia. That is no longer the company’s latest announced funding: Wultra followed it with a €6.8 million Series A in June 2026, with a different lead investor and broader stated plans.
What happened in Wultra’s €3 million funding round?
Wultra said Tensor Ventures led the €3 million Seed+ investment, Elevator Ventures co-led it, and J&T Ventures also participated. The company said it would use the money to accelerate development of post-quantum authentication and support expansion into Western Europe and Southeast Asia. It also said it planned to open an office in Singapore in 2025. Wultra’s January 15, 2025 announcement does not establish whether that office opened.
The announcement named Raiffeisen Bank International, Erste Digital, OTP Bank, and Global Payments as existing clients. Wultra also reported that thousands of its Talisman hardware authenticators had been delivered and tens of thousands pre-ordered at the time. Those are historical company-reported figures, not current sales totals.

No. On June 29, 2026, Wultra announced a €6.8 million Series A led by Seventure Partners, with Marc Norlain and Guillaume Despagne, founders of ARIADNEXT, and existing investors J&T Ventures and Elevator Ventures also participating. Wultra said it would use the Series A proceeds to scale its digital identity platform, develop digital identity wallet capabilities, expand internationally, and focus on large strategic customers. The Series A should not be confused with the Seed+ round: the amounts, lead investor, and stated priorities differ. Wultra’s June 29, 2026 announcement describes the later investment.

What does Wultra do?
Wultra is a business-to-business cybersecurity and digital identity vendor focused on banks and fintechs. Its offering includes mobile-first software authentication as well as a physical authenticator, rather than a consumer app created by the 2025 investment. Wultra’s company profile, accessed October 4, 2026, reports more than 70 clients in more than 25 countries; those are company-reported figures, not independently verified market totals. See Wultra’s company profile.
What is post-quantum authentication?
Post-quantum authentication refers to authentication designed to remain secure against attacks that could become practical with sufficiently capable quantum computers. Wultra described its 2025 investment as support for developing this area. The announcement does not specify a complete technical design, deployment schedule, or independent assessment of the resulting protections, so the funding announcement alone is not evidence that all Wultra products—or banking authentication generally—are already quantum-resistant.

Wultra CEO and founder Petr Dvořák said in the 2025 announcement that he anticipated a “Q-day” within five years. That is his forecast, not an independently established timetable or consensus prediction. The announcement’s broader message was that financial institutions should prepare, but the cited material does not establish a date by which quantum computers will defeat current authentication.
How do Wultra’s mobile and hardware authentication options differ?
Wultra describes its software authentication as mobile-first and Talisman as a hardware alternative for users who cannot use a smartphone. The practical distinction is where the authentication interaction takes place and what a customer must deploy; the bank still needs to integrate and operate its chosen authentication system.

| Option | User access and confirmation | Deployment and procurement |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile-first software authentication | Designed around a smartphone; Wultra’s announcement does not give a specific transaction-confirmation flow. | Software authentication for institutional customers; integration details depend on the bank’s deployment. |
| Talisman hardware authenticator | A dedicated banking token with a two-line display to guide transaction confirmations. | FIDO2/WebAuthn integration and USB connectivity; Wultra invites organizations to request a quote or sample. |
What is the Talisman hardware authenticator?
Wultra describes Talisman as a FIDO2 hardware token designed for banking. Its product page lists a two-line display, USB connectivity, a secure element, FIDO2/WebAuthn integration, and phishing resistance. The page presents it as an enterprise-oriented product with per-unit pricing and a request-a-quote or sample sales path, rather than documenting general retail availability. Read Wultra’s Talisman product details.
FIDO2 and post-quantum cryptography are not interchangeable terms. Wultra’s materials identify Talisman as a FIDO2 token and separately describe broader work on post-quantum authentication; they do not establish that Talisman, every FIDO2 device, or generic security keys use post-quantum cryptography. Wultra’s 2025 announcement also said the device was manufactured and assembled in the European Union, with final production in the Czech Republic. That is the company’s statement, not a separately verified supply-chain audit.
